GTI Engineering Tax Disc Holder and Rear Window Dealer Sticker...

Always had an interest in GTI-Engineering and over the years been lucky enough to have gathered up quite a bit of their sales literature.

Hit on the idea recently of using the period art work from some of these to get a tax disc holder and rear window sticker professionally made for my own car(s).

While you can commission individual stickers to be made nowadays, it does work out to be very expensive.

So, to try and recoup some of the outlay I had 10 of each of the items pictured below made.

I'm keeping two sets, so there are eight sets left if anyone is interested.

Both stickers are made from what is known as 'static' or 'self' cling. That just means they don't use adhesive, instead using static to attach to a suitably smooth surface… just as any generic tax disc holder or dealer sticker does to a car screen.

It also means they can be removed and reapplied many times over.

The rectangular dealer sticker is 'reverse' printed… the artwork is applied on the back of the material so as to be viewed from the outside of the vehicle. In other words it goes on the inside of the screen to be visible from the outside.

The tax disc holder is the opposite. The art work is printed on the side that doesn't adhere to the glass, so like the dealer sticker it's applied on the inside of the screen but instead will be only visible to the occupants.

The holder is a single piece of film, so there's no pocket or flap for the disc such as you'd find on a bought version. You simply sandwich the disc between the holder and the glass. The clear area outside of the artwork and disc will hold it to the screen.

The disc in the image below is just for show and not included.

I've attached my own stickers to a green tinted pane, again for the photos and just to show you what they look like fitted… Yours will supplied unused and still on their backing card.

The disc holder is approx. 10.5 cm in diameter and the dealer sticker approx. 24cm x 4.5cm, that includes the transparent edge around each.

I'm initially offering them here and on the MK2OC site, if there's any surplus they'll likely go on eBay, but unfortunately the cost will be a bit more to cover fees.

It was a bit of a faff doing the artwork and having them made, plus you couldn't get an individual set made for this price.

So, you're getting one of each sticker (circular and rectangular) plus inclusive Royal Mail 'Signed For' 2nd class postage to a standard UK address…

Love it mate and we don't even use tax disc holders obviously in Austria.  😂

But because of the GTI Engineering badge as well I might be tempted with a set, so what's the postal charge to Austria (EU 🇪🇺) of course?

Mike… Royal Mail International recorded postage is an extortionate £7.75.

Standard International however isn't much more than UK recorded but obviously with the down side that if it goes awry there's no comeback… I'll only have proof of posting and I know from experience that's not worth a damn with them.

If you want to take the chance I'll of course send them and for the same £15.00, but on the understanding I can't cover non-delivery.

Just saw this and your pm but to answer your question we were outside, we had 20 degrees but by 7 you needed a jumper or a jacket.

But we had a really good time! ☺️

The crack for me in all of this is when (and if) I do put them on my mk1, no one over here in Austria 🇦🇹  will have the faintest idea 💡 what they are! 😉 😂👍🏼

Tracking says it' still being held for collection at the sorting office. FYI - Just in case they tried the wrong address, you're unaware and they're returned to me.

Cheers Mike… The people who made them are excellent, good at what they do and more than helpful.
While they're not cheap for such a small order at least they'll do them… plenty of other places won't even entertain running off less than 50 or a 100.

I've just 2 x sets left and no plans for more so the 10 that were made are pretty 'rare' as they say on eBay!
