I cant say I ever noticed it on my mk1 cabrio, and my mk2 doesnt do it either. there is a vent line from the tank which just pokes out roudn the back, possible thats blocked so is worth a look

YES.  Never ask a two part question that can be answered by one word answers.

Yes.

No, as stated.  If you have a Vented Cap, then there is a issue with it not venting (replace the cap).

If you have the closed system as mentioned that you didn't get that over there until the mk3 then no, it isn't an issue.

So as with "Little Miss Bo-Peep" leave it be, and accept it as normal.
