I think to be honest 40mm might have been 10 to much but as I have been told by those in the know " camber plates " trouble is I'd quite like to raise them up so let battle commence

Cheers dude, I've found a new set of 16's so need to make some strut tops to give me some suspension lol, tried to look and see what you're running but couldn't quite see the details, throw up a couple of pics if you get a chance.

Quick up date, have been stock piling parts for a while now and have managed to graft on a pair of Audi A3 front brakes with g60 discs. They have had a quick blast and will be getting the proper treatment next week followed by some nice new paint. This will enable me to get the new wheels on I bought and will finally be able to get the car back on the road and back to work to do some of the more interesting mods I have been planning for ever.

Have done a couple of bits, welded up my first raised strut mount and blasted and painted one of my calipers, looking forward to a weekend fitting up

Thanks fellas got so many little detail bits to do before I can start the easy bit of painting it, just comes down to time and money unfortunately but I’m still plugging away and getting there slowly

Bumper and bits arrived yesterday, Heritage only had 1 mount in stock so I thought I'd copy it and make the rest myself. Took a little while to measure and draw out the template but now I have they don't take to long to make.
Next thing is to make some drop plates for the rear wheels and it'll soon be time for MOT then I can get it to work and start the serious stuff, removing those hideous box sections from under the sills, yey !   

Oh and put the front brake on the right hand side at the weekend and put the 16" wheels on should do the left on Sunday

What brakes are those mucker?

Save yourself a whole load of headaches and paint the box cill thingies black. They disappear like magic

Can't wait to see how you get on, chopping off the reinforced sills!  

Ah the idea is to reinforce internally, there is quite a big lip on the tin top floor to sill joint as far as I can make out probably about 15mm and there is room up inside the sill to make a box section to weld in between the remaining lips of the box section I remove if I leave about 15mm both sides. The box can be deeper at the back and then weld to the underside of the inner sill / door step at the front. Simples

Are they Toyo Proxies fitted to the wheels? Are they any good on a Golf? I had them on an MG and thought they were great tyres but other people have said they don't rate them at all.

Yeah I had them on my D90’s and there a great tyre , 195 40 16 which is a bit of an unusual size personally I think for the money they’re all round performance is pretty good
