I thought I started a build thread but I searched and couldn't find one , anyway here is my 1983 golf originally a 1.1. I have this about twelve years now and it has just over 490000 miles

Original plan was to gti it, bought a 1600 engine , had if rebuilt, then I was talking to a lad who had a g60 in his golf. And I was hooked. So I bought an 89 corrado g 60 lhd from a Latvian lad for 600 euros

Ah awesome! The g60 goes like a rocket ship in a mk1, I've been in a few. How far are you into the build? Or just started?

I had a leather interior from a jap import Jetta in my previous mk1 and I sold the golf but I kept the seats , I miss that car I have a pic somewhere it was Gambia red, also have pics of seats I'll post . Anyway back to mario I drove it for years with a leaking britax sunroof and it was ruining my leather seats . So I decided to do away with the sunroof as I had bought a set of rallye seats

I stripped the rado of engine and box and loom,it had leather interior which I sold for 400 euro, the wheels for 100 which where off an Opel I had to use s sledge hammers to get them off. I sold the bumpers ,bonnet, sunroof which was new, and loadsa other parts . Also kept the brakes for mario, well I bought new calipers and discs and pads, the old calipers where exchange items from gsf, bought goodridge hoses too, the car is crazy fast so you need to stop as well, I value my life too, I made s right few quid from that rado plus got a free engine box brakes,I also got a set of estorils as part exchange on the bumper end bonnet,

I then got the engine rebuilt, and the task of getting all the parts to make it fit, engine mounts, I got loom sorted by g werkes, I bought a new merc sprinter inter cooler, some eBay piping and joiners, the clutch is cablechange, which if I was doing it again I would definitely go hydro, I fitted weitec spring and boge shocks and I polybushed everything. I also fitted a stainless 4 branch manifold and s full magnex system and it sounds great.

A bit of advise to anybody fitting a g60 engine into another car is to get a new loom. I've had endless hassle with my car and it was all because of the wiring. I've thought about selling it many times (it will be for sale ) soon . But when you sort out these issues , it makes you smile from ear to ear

Anyway after I removed the sunroof and welded in new roof panel I decided to get the car painted I replaced the boot lid for one from pre 80 5 door with no rear wiper, I also got my hands on two new oe wings and bonnet . They where with a crashed gti I bought just for the new panels, which I quickly sold on with the old panels from my car.
