Roof frame, bad repair and leaks

Between Chortle and I we have replaced a bazillion and a half tops.

Read each thread, become familiar with them, and you will be able to install it like a pro.  

I know I was daunted with my first one, as all there was written about it was Forrest King's 2 page word document…. My second one I was snapping pics and  going about it.  By my tenth I was still snapping pictures.
and one of these day's I will re-write it again.

I know, but I can't cut out, match a panel, weld it and prep it and spray it on my own. I do not have the skill set to do that or the tools or the space. I don't even have a driveway. So I do infact need a reputable person to help me as the bodywork foundation must be sorted first, as I fear that's what's causing 80% of the issues. It's just a waiting game until my funds are up and I can send the car for repair.

I know, but I'm absolutely skint. I don't make a huge amount of money, last time I paid a lot in comparison to what I was second quoted at bodytone and I've ended up with an absolute nightmare to deal with.
If I knew how to do it myself I would haha I don't even trust nail technicians to do my nails right lol!!

Well it sounds like we need some 'Crowd Funding' or in our case 'Club Funding', so who's up for sticking a few quid in?  

Let's see if we can't help the Lady out hey, it's simple as Kisty said, "she's skint" but she is a Mk1 owner and clearly she loves her car and from what I know this great Club.   

So I'll start the ball rolling with a pledge of £20 towards the cost.
Now I me not normally known for my generosity but Liverpool did win last night!  

Let's see if we can get this done and dusted so Kirsty, like the rest of us can enjoy the summer months?

I was going to keep going back every month and getting a bit done here and there. I think I scheduled 2 years! Haha

Well it's no victory yet but as Jürgen Klopp said earlier this week when he was asked about his team tactics when he replied, "We'll throw the kitchen sink at them if we have to."  

That works for me!  

So Kirsty, please send me a PT with your PayPal account details and I will transfer the money and then when others want to donate (which I hope they will) they can ask me for the info, if that works for you!  

Well the sun is out where I am and even now it's a nice 20 degrees, so lots of feel good factor.

Pretty awesome idea Mike, am skint at the minute, but I have got some stuff to get up on eBay if it sells all donate the money to the fund

I'm overwhelmed. This is the nicest thing. I did a bad on Friday at a gig and smashed up my phone so all my gig money went on repairing the phone. (grumble grumble grumble) so this has cheered me up so much.

There is nothing worse then bad repairs and we have all been in this sort of position (currently In this position ). Makes me angry,  so owt to help

It's so rubbish. Especially when you think oh great I got that sorted now I can save up for the next job until it all comes out in the wash. Sorry to hear you're going through that rubbishness as well. X

Aye I have been battlin mine for the last year, should hopefully have it  all done and resolved by the end of the month. Only had 2 days off work in April to pay for everything. My issues all caused by a well know company who do engine conversions. 

Be good if a few other people from the club chip in and help I think putting some horded parts on eBay is a good way of doing it.?

I just still want to say thank you everyone for all the advice and help with this xx hopefully the ball will be rolling for the next two weeks (squeeee) and my car will once again be beautiful.

I forgot to tell you all that one night out I went to see a show I left my car in a nice car park and a bmw smashed into my car and has damaged all my bumpers, pushed the clipper kit wonky and split all my paintwork on my rear bumper … They hit her so hard she hit the wall behind her! I was devastated. I've been waiting for the police to prosecute the person responsible as they drove off and it was a witness who thankfully took their details.

So it's been a very teary, angry and stressful few months, but nothing's going to make me give up on the car, haha we've been through too much now! Haha.

I know right. Just unbelievable. I wanted to take matters into my own hands but apparently that's "illegal" and "frowned upon".

Although many of the Berkshire crew felt the same way about it as I did, I did everything by the book…oh and look still no justice! Lol. 
The cctv guy said to me well it doesn't look like he hit your car very hard so I don't understand why you've reported it to the police.

That's like saying..
Oh I only ran you over a little bit, you've got no broken bones, I can't understand why you would report that to the police… 

He obviously couldn't see the damage caused and was clearly an idiot. Lol

Update :

The roof is fixed and my body work beneath it is sorted, I also had the clipper kit fixed and my front wings resprayed as the bad paint job had cracked from that wack she took in the carpark.. So all in all I'm chuffed to bits with the results and looking forward to enjoying the intermittent sunshine!

Does anyone know how to install those dampers? I bought a pair off Mark at classic vw but don't know how to pop them on? Briano1234 chortle

Roof strut dampers?
They go onto pegs on the frame.
Secured with spacers covers and clips.
I presume that's wharf you mean?
