Got this set in yesterday, the difference with these and the one that came out of the rear arb is night and day. I'm hoping nothing drastic dosent unfold doing the front end…. C:\fakepath20150303_222331.jpg

What kit did you go for? I am looking at rebushing  my cabby and looking for recommendations.

I got the kit from flow flex,  good rates on the various packs and you don't on have to buy the complete to start off, pretty much pick and choose  specific ones you need  and they price it up.

Started the job last night so far so good.

I've been looking at this kit as it seems like good value for money. Interested to hear how you find it.

Im rightly stumped on this bolt… any ideas? the car is on axel stands so im not keen to swing out of it.

If I do go heating it where would be the best place to start, considering the threads are well down the bolt…

Hi, when I tackled mine, I used plenty of penetrating fluid, several times, over several days, at the head of the bolt, and behind the bush where the bolt enters the chassis. Then put your front wheels under the chassis (just in case it comes off the axle stands) then use a breaker bar to apply lots of torque, very gradually. If you haven't got a breaker bar, a length of scaffold pole over a tommy bar will normally do instead!
good luck

I did exactly this today, I managed to get a decent size bar and had it soaking for 2 days/nights. Moved th ebar slowly and felt movement "great!" then after about a turn I hear crack…. FOOOOOOOK  :(

Now Ive really got a messy job, the bolt is still quite tight in the bush but its just got a rubbery feel on turn and its not even sticking out where I can remove it……. By the looks of  this arm inlet its gonna be a right pain to tap this when I eventually get this arm out…

Oh dear, you do have a problem.  I've just renewed these on my 82 cabby and had some difficulty getting them loose.  Whatever you do, don't ruin the captive nut built into the chassis behind the rear part of the wishbone.  Keep applying fluid to the nut area.  If you have sheared the bolt, as seems likely, then you must get it extracted so that you can examine the extent of the damage.  That way you can remove the wishbone and inspect the chassis nut.  If the nut is destroyed I understand it will need specialist help to get a new one installed.
If there are others in the forum who have been through this experience, I'm sure they'd be glad to give you their advice.  Hopefully you'll hear from someone soon!

Yea seems as if the inner collor/sleeve  of the bush has bonded to the bolt so it may not be so bad… either way it dosent make it any easier to remove as the bush won't let go of the bolt on the inside.

I'm gonna try drilling the nut at the collar and hopefully it will come out.

Once out I can inspect the inner nut.

What nut are you going to drill?  Or do you mean the bolt?

Perhaps, rather than in "General Chat", you should repost this in the "Technical Section" under "Running Gear".  That way you may get a better response to your problem from the experts in that field.

Sorry you are right I meant the collar of the bolt to try get it out.

I didn't intend this to be a technical chat I had hoped for a better outcome

If the bolt is "glued in" by the bush, then it should knock out if it has been freed from the rear captive nut.  I suggest you try first (if you haven't already done so) to apply max gripping force with a mole clamp wrench and then try knocking it forwards.
Or you may consider getting a bar welded to the head of the bolt and then drive that forwards with a mallet.
I suspect the bolt is sheared, otherwise if it was screwed free of the rear nut, it would protrude outwards by the thread depth of the captive nut.
Maybe someone who has actually had this problem, may come forward with their experience to advise you.  I was lucky in that the bolt came free.

Yea I'm nearly sure the collar of the bush has stuck/rusted to the bolt this is the m a in reason I'm looking to sheer the bolt as I won't get it out with the collar attached.

I don't think you should deliberately shear off the bolt if you haven't already done so.  The bolt looks like the ones you have in your first image and should be about 110mm in length.  They are a metric fine screw thread.  If the old bolt is seized to the bush liner, it should come free with suitable treatment and perseverance!  Good luck with it.  Ultimately maybe there is a case for cutting out the wishbone, rather than destroying the captive nut, but maybe it's too late for that.

I have a pair  of new bolts ready to go in that I got with the  lower strut brace which is the main reason I need the wishbone out. C:\fakepath1426090271513.jpg

I'm still at the soaking it in penetrating fluid every couple of days at the moment (as well as other suspension/axle bolts I need to remove) as I'm not attempting the job for a while yet. Seems like it was a good idea now.
