What's a isv, pictures will help  

Just looked it up. Is a easy way to test to unplug it and see if anything changes?

take the plastic spark plug lead trim off and its right there on the front

if you feel up underneath you can touch it though. so switch on ign and feel to see if its vibrating

So just with ignition on but not running?

aye! maybe worth whipping it off fopr a clean if you can try to submerge it in petrol or white spirit or similar with it plugged in and buzzing, swish it about till the black stuff stops coming out.

then give it a good spray of silicone lube to make sure its all smooth then see how you go.

my abf was really picky about isv though i tried 3 before i found one it found to be acceptable

Iv run it for nearly a year with no problem but I only do a very short journey every day so probably not helped.

Hi rubjonny . Took the valve off and sat it in some white spirit plugged in and not a lot of dirt came out really as in it was very clean. I gave the valve filter a clean and still have same problem. What's to try next???

may be time for a new isv then

if you have vagcom theres a reset proicedure you can do to match throttle and isv, check my sig for the various abf info (do ctrl f and type 'abf')

inlet air temp sensor, you want it as close to the inlet air as you can manage, preferably inside the air filter but strapped to the side will be ok
