Whats the sticker on the left side of the bonnet as you look at it in the pics above?? Just wondering…

Shughy I forgot to put a pic up the other day! This is the sticker that you asked about.

I'm not sure I've seen this one before? It looks like it's always been there, but then this car seems to have a lot of little things I've not seen before, like protective stickers under the front corners of the bonnet and under the headlamps on the front panel recesses.

Andy, what on earth did you use clean the wheel arches like that?

That looks like new mate, oh how I wish I could do all that you've done to yours on mine!

But I'm just dreaming sadly.  O_o

The car is looking fantastic mate!

Thanks Mike! It's a secret blend of elbow grease and other fine chemicals!!

To be honest a lot of it is just down to hard work, time, more time, oh and some more time! lol Especially with a white car it's either clean or dirty, there's no middle ground.

All four arches are now completed and the car sits on the G60s which look great!   Tomorrow it's machine polish time. Hopefully we can get it ready for photos on Thursday and up for sale

Today was 3-stage machine polish and wax day! Had to leave early so one side is left to be done but it's coming up nicely.

The paint work was in fantastic condition to start with but some feint scouring was present from previous hand washing of the car. It's hard to photograph well, especially on a mobile but the following give you an idea of the before and after shots.

It's not 100% like glass now, but it's not bad at all.

We may just get this one ready by the close of play tomorrow and ready for sale

Well the Cabby is now officially finished! It's taken many more hours than first thought, after all it is one very straight and rust free car. However, we had to unearth its greatness from underneath the general grime, which meant many hours of elbow grease were needed!

Here's a couple of pics - more of what you've seen but it is the finale! The seats are still a little damp from the clean today, hence they look a little patchy

Oh and here's the finishing touch ;)

Weather permitting it will be photo time tomorrow and up for sale. It will appear for sale here on the forum, at £5,995 - along with a list of all the work recently completed, parts replaced and general overall condition to justify this price - it is a strong car!

Looks as good as mine used to Andy!  :'(
But seriously, the car is looking sharp but I just can't make my mind up about those wheels.  O_o

It's down to personal taste at the end of the day but I would have liked to have seen it standing on a set of BBS Sportline wheels.
Just like mine!

Good luck with the sale mate and as you said, strong money but it is a proper one after all.

The car looks great.. Really really good job. Worth every penny of the £6000. I think the G60 steelies look clean and smart, but I am going to sound really mental here, I always liked the clipper on the original steel wheels with the plastic wheel trims.. Not that I like wheel trims or anything, just that I associated the clipper with those wheels and so the wheels jump out at me as being changed if you know what I mean.. I think the sportline bbs would look great though.. Cars in this condition don't come up often and I hope that in itself is enough to not affect the sale over the winter months. I think a serious collector / buyer will realise that..

Yes they was all fitted from new, I've got them still fitted to my car as it's never been resprayed, Ive not got the one with the diagram under the bonnet as mine's a GTi.

The car looks super clean, now take it for a drive down the roads today with all this rain and mud and it wont look like it does now….. Bring on the summer!

Thanks for all the comments folks, they're appreciated. We really weren't sure which way to go with the wheels, and very nearly refurb'd the ones that came on the car until these G60s came up. I think they look better in the flesh but it is a personal taste thing for sure!

We completed the photo shoot today at Burghley House, Stamford. I drove VERY slowly so not to get too dirty on the way! lol. We also invited a budding, new, local photographer, Ash Nye to join us on the shoot and take some of the pics as he's looking to increase his portfolio.

There's still a couple of little bits to sort as it turns out - like I'd forgotten until today that whoever fitted the new hood, whilst doing a good job, fitted the tonneau cover hook tabs in the wrong position so need to move these. We'll sort this before anyone comes to view the car so will hold the advert for a couple of days.

Here's some of Ash's other photos - we're liking his night time shots (Forgive the Ford though!   )

I didn't drive so slowly on the way back to the unit so the car got plastered in mud!  :o  Sods law being what it is I had taken my hosepipe home to top the pond up so had to resort to a watering can to clean up! That said, having had the polish and wax treatment the dirt just flew off

Cheers Glen. It's the nicest driving MK1 I've been in for sure, just feels (good) different, in a solid kind of way!

In part - it was a very good car to begin with paint/body wise which always helps!
