Good call on the bumper iron, my rear ones rusted away to nothing, it was not till I noticed my rear bumper was crocked and knocking on the body work till I realized mine looked like this!
I had some make from stainless steel I could not find any where to buy new ones.

Yea, lots of graft done but loved every minute!
Keeping the cabby on the road for the next generation!
I powder coated the irons purely because I couldn't put a freshly painted kit onto old looking bits.. After seeing your rotten ones pretty glad I did! Best £40 I've spent!
Respect for the stainless ones, there going no where!

New headlining, padding and hood time… nervous but ready and willing!
Two days later and a bit more finishing off to do but, it looks like it was worth the time and the money!

Just read through the thread front to back, awesome!
This is going to look factory fresh when done.
Do you think you will have it done in time for the AGM in July? I will buy you a pint for your is it 42nd Birthday?, and you can celebrate 4 years well spent getting this great looking cabby done
Keep up the good work, its stunning .
The wife regret opening her mouth and saying she will buy you one yet?

July? Hope so….
I've a local car show pencilled in for June, still a bit to do mind!
The offer of a pint for my 42nd birthday which is actually in July sounds like a plan!!
Nice to have people appreciate my graft so thanks! even though I've sold both my kids to fund it!

Nice work, a new roof makes so much difference and I always like blue mohair, think it looks quite classy

Few more pics, started to fit the clipper kit & the side trims are on. Went for the slim black steel trims instead of the original wider ones…… think it looks a little sleaker.
Hoping for a few more parts to arrive this week, not far off!

Well today 'Lyla' as she's know passed the mot! Got her taxed straight away and gave her a 20 mile shake down…. and other than the wheel alignment and the steering wheel pointing which ever way they want to all was good!
Getting that sorted out tomorrow so just about there!
There's still a few bits to be done but the sun was out so just couldn't resist!!!

Leesuper13….
Cannot believe I have only just seen this/your thread, as you said our cars are twins.
Lyla looks superb a real testament to your love and hard work. Brilliant, Brilliant job!!!!
One question if I may please:
- What size tyres are you running?
What do you think the car is worth now she is fully restored and road legal?
Once again, an utterly Brilliant job….

Hi,
Great job you've done there, can I ask where did you get the new Cabby rear GTI badge ? I've only seen the tin top ones.
Cheers Mick.

Tyres are michelin pilot sports..195 50 15's … drives nice but a bit heavy on the old steering when parking!!
In regards to What it's worth… duno pal? I always think that there worth what someone would be willing to pay!!
Cheers for the comments, appreciated!
