Et30 and above on 6j and 7j I'd say

7j? that would be very close i reckon, but et30 on 7's or 6's would do?

Yeah, I'd go for 6j et33 or sommat

The 15" are your best bet. You can just get the tyres swapped. 6J and et45 will tuck nicely.

Should be able to sell your reps easy enough.

Will not et 45 be very close or even touch the suspension strut.

I would have to agree with abfmk1 but the guys that do this sort of thing will know best what can be achieved and with what though I'm sure VW state that ET20-ET40 will fit on a standard set-up car… outwith that as I say the guys that do this will know best??

You may find that a spacer is required which will really just give you what you have at present, a sticky out wheel.

et46 6.5j clear the strut on my cabrio but that's with out tyres.

I know as I trial fitted some bbs rs764 last week.

It's going to come down to the tyres but even if you need 5mm shims you'll still be at et40.

this seller on the bay has a few different sets that might be of interest to you if you haven't seen already
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/cheap.quality.stuff/m.html?item=261352786015&fits=Car+Make%3AVW&pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item3cd9d7085f&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

there's another set of those BBS alloys like above but black, and a couple sets of 15" RA's which wouldn't need spacers, and a few other different wheels too

How about some 6j D90s using 15mm or 20mm adapters?

Using 15mm's would give you ET37 :)
