I originally laid eyes on what is now my golf about 2 years ago when I started working at my latest Raf base where I would drive past this rather sorry looking gti parked up, and every day I said to myself I would buy it if it ever came to have a for sale sign on it… after about 8 or nine months nothing really happened other than me wanting it more untill one afyernoon I was tootling along when I noticed the brand new sign in the front window!
So naturally I parted with the cash (which was probably too much) but I finnally had the car I had been dreaming of for the best part of a year!
So once I had managed to upset my line manager by towing it into the workshops car park the next day it inevitably sat there ever since…. which I am truely sorry for. But now ive got my hands on a small garage to store her in I can start work….
The plans are quite big for her as her current engine has been fettled by the last owner and has been made extremely difficult to get going due to a ludicrusly high compression head on the 1.8 injection engine. I will be removing the engine and try to get it back up and running but with plans to replace it for a mk 4 1.8t. While that is going on the body will be getting acid dipped and repaired.
Still got a long way to go before all of that but this is my plan for the next couple of years to keep my self busy.
I will work out how to up load pictures shortly.
stay tuned

It's been a while and ive still not managed to work out how photo bucket works…
The progress so far has been slow due to various things including buying my first house and working away for 4 months along with a new addition to the family.
But I'm please to say I am making progress… The interior is all but out just the headlining and wiring left to come out. The engine is out along with the gearbox rad, injection system and the servo. Wings are off along with the doors and bumpers.
I'm in the process of getting a custom trolly made up for it to move it about… (only out of wood).
And ive managed to aquire a mk2 that was being scrapped to be the donner car for the new engine, g 60 brakes and the rear brakes will be making thein way onto the car along with the wiring loom. As well as the wheels which for the life of me I can't remember the name of…
I have also been busy trying to source a garage that will be able to blast the shell and make any repairs necessary…
That's as far as I have gotten for now but the suspension and brakes will be coming off shortly and hopefully the fuel tank and all the fuel/brake lines will be coming off too.
I will keep trying to work out how to get the pics up! Until next time…

this is where I currently am with the car not much left to take off really. I'm planning on getting it into a repair shop soon as I have no power in the garage and no welder (and I'm not very good) so I thought I would just get it all done in one hit.
eventually itll be metallic oak green as I really dont like the original colour or the one its now in from its last respray.
There was an idea of mars red which is a great colour but I wanted something a bit different unless anyone can suggest some colours or knows of the original ones they came out from the factory with?
