So where does the swirl pot go as regards to the tank? Is it attached to it tank or is there pipes from the tank to it or summat? Also with the lifter pump am i not able to take that from my old tank?

the GTI tank has the swirl pot inside, basiucally where the pic above shows on drapoons tank only its a different unit with a rubber seal to bottom of tank, filter inside it and non-return flaps on the inlets so fuel can enter but not escape!

Just got off the phone to heritage and they are saying they have not had anyone come back with problems who have fitted these to gti's….can't say I was convinced :dry:

Ppl from vw heritage mate act like they know wat there talkin about but the dnt know alot really drapoon, ive had many of convos with them and things turn.out wrong or not quite right :/ havin sed that there service is always good and very helpfull

So wat about things for the fuel gauge and stuff john? Or am i being stupid agen?

Fuel gauge runs of the lifter pump assembly there's a plastic ball in the end of the rod which floats on the petrol

the gti just has a level sender in the tank, this will go into the nearest bin. then you replace it with a combined lifter pump/level sender unit from a post-84 cabrio, scirocco or G40 shape polo.  You'll need to add the 3 pin plug on for this, use the old wires from the gti level sender plug for 2 of them and add a wire spliced into the fuel pump power feed for the 3rd.

you'll need the swirl pot from the above cars, or a suitable after-market item. there is nothign you can use from the old tank unless the swirl pot will come out, but I'm pretty sure it will not!
