cheers for the good wishes guys. if i get a mk1 in the US then it actually won't be kept as standard, i would have to get rid of those American headlights & give the car the european look. meanwhile does anyone know of any good shows this week where i can show my car off for the first time?

Beautiful car and there is 6 mk1's heading to Biggar in 2 weekends time on the Saturday and to Linlithgow classic car show on the Sunday.

If you fancy it give me a shout.

that sounds like fun to me but unfortunately i will not be here. i will though pass this on to my friend who painted the car & provided me with much help whilst doing it, i think he will be interested.
