i think you did the right thing replacing the cable. For what they cost new it's not worth risking it and being stuck somewhere when it does snap

Rockford punch splits,
Jl audio W2 sub,
rf amp and a alright headunit.
Pioneer 6x9's(came with the car)

Im going to the wreckers to see what i can find for my baby end of month haha

CTI centre console(Sorry inside of car was dirty due to working on it  and eating popcorn same time haha)


Then added wheel arches


then found a tin of black spray(My girlfriends dads garage haha and decided to blackout the front grill)..

things to do:

Respray bumpers(Black)
CITI stickers onside get made up in (Black)
Fixed up one or two minor rust spots.
Fit interior light
Fit CTI cluster,

and then a few things that are a suprise

Done a few things

Replaced old dash with new dash,
Laminx headlights,
laminx spots,
fixed up a few electronic issues,
and replaced antenna

Yeah, smudger it really does suck . But got another update.

Found an old school dash and took it to myself to fit it !

So here is dash in my mk1 .


so everything is working besides the petrol gauge T_T!!! will take it to my buddy who does electronics during week to get it sorted .

note the cover is on at the bottom now on driver side
