Mk1 4x4

Ok i know ive done this post before but im starting it again >.<

Here is the shell, looking a little sorry for itself lol

The one big prob is it did have an aftermarket sunroof fitted till it flew up in the air 40ft when bringing it home :lol:so i now have a big hole in the roof but i was going to change it anyway but im still undecided if to fit a new roof or fit a carbon fiber one both will cost the same to fit so im not sure atm plus i gotta save the cash up first lol

Here is the 4wd setup..

Now be very wary when buying stuff like this and do you research first!! I dint and paid the price…
First of all the prop is off a TT not a Rallye, the rear axle is off a passat, ya may think whats the differance well the mounting point is a differant size, bigger on the passat and a slightly differant angle.
They are slightly wider which would help with fitting the axle on as its very tight to fit on :|Im going to be fitting the Haldex rear dif so the conversion setup was needed..

The old mounting needed to be cut off, As you can see you have to make a jig on the axle so you can postion the conversion and Haldex dif up correctly.

Missing a pic here :ocf_emoticons__BangHead:On the roll over jig

Having a quick look to see how it will look.

Mounting point for the axle

The tunnel was cut out for the Rallye one to be fitted, the Rallye one has to be cut in half to shorten it, it will not fit at all..

Made a start on the front subframe.

New Boot Floor going in.

All i have time for as wife wants me outside Gardening :(

This is going to be one amazing MK1 when it's all done mate. For now though I am really in awe of your skills and ambition for taking this sort of thing on.

Hope it all goes well mate for you. Best of luck :)

Been on this project for a good 6 months on and off and its time consuming project, bare in mind im in a normal sized garage and man i need the space  badly>.<

Shell is going to be fully blasted inside and out this year but just need to get the seam sealer and sound proffing off first >.<

Anyway, as the above pics ive got the boot floor in, just need to weld in a hump on the gap for the axle, the tunnel is half welded in and will be finished soon!

I have made some brackets for the axle mounting as you can see below, they still have to be welded on but they are in the correct postion..

Got some parts machined down, hopfully once ive had the disks redrilled i can fit everything to the back, then fingers crossed i have a rolling rear end :) still goto fit the rear hanging bracket, it will also allow me to get the rear prop section modified to the correct lengh..

I am doing the 5 stud conversion..

2.5mm off either end of the shafts
Milled down to the lvl of the groove to allow the TT CV fitment
Hub needs 2mm off overall diameter
1 of the steps needed machining down

Lil update

New mount point, rather large but will be putting a reinforcing bar to help with the load.

View not normally seen.

Started on the body work, getting a tad bored with the underside so thought it would make a nice change, im cutting as less as i possibly can…

Hubs fitted to the trailing arm..

Had a quick look at this today, certainly had some major work, and some more to do yet, should be rather nice when done, and thanks climbatize for the part, looks exactly what I want.
