This time was much more time consuming..
The speaker sticks out of the bottom.. This required soooo much cutting. Another view..
It didn't feel great knowing that these speaker pods had lasted 26 years, and as soon as I get my hands on them, they're cut to bits But the sound quality is very good, so I think it's worth it. Plus, you don't see it anyway! Here's a little picture I took on the drive home from the garage..
There'll be quite a nice update later.. Still nothing on the engine front though. cf_emoticons__BangHead:

Loving the centre cap mate. Get them fitted and some pics up pronto
I won't be fitting the wheels until the engine is in, I need to sort that out first
But that hasn't stopped me 'trial fitting', and photoshopping a tyre on there!
Keep in mind, that when the wheel is acutally on there, I will have stretched tyres (165/50), and they won't be this colour.. Still undecided on colour..
And of course, she'll be going lower at some point!

2 window winders, some interior shampoo, and this.
A sheet of brown corduroy. I did some sharpie markings.. Not too accurate..
And, the result! It still needs sewing, it's held together by hairpins in this picture, but you get the idea!
Also, here's the un-photoshopped version of that wheel pic, looks better like this haha..
News on the engine too, I'm getting a new crank, and a little rebuild will be going on next weekend hopefully!

Aha yeah, I like it too, it's pretty expensive, but worth it

I've decided to go for a gearbox rebuild the same time, to stop the whirring, grinding, and knocking
So that was finished today, and is in.
The flywheel was lightened and balanced, new carb flange, new engine mount, rust hole in the back of the front valance welded up, timing belt fitted, new speedo drive gear, new crank, new bearings, and the gearbox has been fully rebuilt.
All work carried out by 'hotgolf' from the CGTI forums, you may know him
Here's a picture of the box stripped last night

No more crunching, knocking & whirring from the gearbox. It feels veerry smooth, and pretty much no play in the gearstick whatsoever!
No more knocking from the engine either..
At first, I didn't feel a hell of a difference in speed with the flywheel.. Until I hit about 3000 revs, it's unreal!
Engine feels much more responsive and less lazy haha, and the fuel efficency is improved too!
Not much other news though, but here's some pictures from my celebratory drive!
Made an air-cooled friend!
And with my friend's MK3 Capri.
Finally got my numperplate on the front, and gave her a shampoo and polish with AG SRP.
Warning: HDR content.
And another aircooled!
