Air is now fitted, pretty easy DIY job tbh. and the BBS RS that I said I'd never buy as they were too expensive.

Great job there the car looks fantastic.
Can i ask with the rear light cluster what do you do about the reversing lights, are they just red or have you mounted another light somewhere else which i cannot see.
I ask because i have one half of a spare all red light cluster and was thinking about getting the other one.

The reversing lights are just red. Its not a requirement for the Mot and the red is easily enough to see by when reversing.
The indicators are more challenging. I used green bulbs to get an orange indicator.

Should have left it as the AFH! Ahem, just out of interest what did you did you do with the carbs, manifold and filter? Not for sale by any chance?

I had a chat with you at the Jamboree and with your help (and a bit more from Vic) I finally got her finished.

I do believe more pictures are in order though!

Well its been quite the year hasn't it?

not been far in bro (have any of us?)

here is some of the history since 2018, as 2019 saw some issues fixed. notably BROs smoking habit.

The 20v originally fitted, heat seized when a coolant pipe jettisoned (no swage on the interconnecting steel pipe used by the garage). this was replaced by a smoky 20v which had clearly had issues and then they stopped trading.

So I was left with a poorly engine and no recourse.

at this point the car was at Quiffs (where I should've gone in the first place).
I spoke to Richard and we discussed options. the duff engine wasn't a BAM or APX so not really worth spending money on rebuilding.

The solution? Copart!

I bought a MK1 TT 225 that had been rear ended. with 77k on the clock (checked all the previous MOTs) and had it collected and taken to Quiffs where Richard removed the motor and transplanted it into BRO.

I have to say a huge thanks to Richard and the CQ lads for their help and patience. Richard even sold some of the TT parts to people for me to recoup some of the outlay.

after this the car ran much better. However the brakes were woeful (de-servo'd and the wrong MC fitted) and the car suffered fuel starvation when cornering on 1/4 tank of fuel, a common problem with converted previously carb-ed cars.

Richard fitted new calipers, a CQ pedal box and remote servo. New fuel tank (GTI with swirl pot), new fuel pump, new fuel lines (proper rather than many pieces of metal and rubber stitched together), new wiring behind the dash. IMG_20200726_154116.jpg

So a happy ending and a moral (for me at least) go with known trusted vendors rather than someone who says they can do it cheaper.
