Those are very nice looking engines. Looks great in your bay
There's an amazing build thread on Ed38 with one of these, I'll see if I can find it, maybe give you some ideas.

Not quite running yet. Turning over on the key though. Good oil pressure.
Fuel pump. Water pipes, ignition wiring and throttle cable to do. Oh and an exhaust of some form!!
very close now.
swap is quite straight forward physically although the list of correct parts for the injection to carb conversion isn't short. Its done reasonably often un polos though..

hi
Did you have to change the mounts on the car or just use the original ones ? iv head you cant use the gearbox mounting as its different mount ? if so what gearbox did you use and how did you fabricate the mount ? thanks

The front and driver side I used as is. The rear I had to clearance to clear the gearbox. I made the passenger side gearbox mount from the original and the one that came with the new motor and box plus some 2 x 1 box section. The box is the 5 speed that came with the motor. It's a DQW. I converted it rom cable to rod change and swapped the shift finger internally to give better centering feel.

Thanks Andy.
The rear seat is the original but reshaped and I added the headrests. The fronts are alfa 147 mated to golf bases. Which is actually quite a bit more work than it sounds as the golf's bases sit very high at the back.
