He is pretty good mate. I used him for my Cosworth a few years ago and he does know his stuff when it comes to insurance. He's very popular with the RS owners club.
Also you could try the usual Adrian Flux etc etc plus I would try Boncaster mate.
Good luck..

Tried all the standard ones, aviva is heading the pack by a 3k lead so far haha. Need to retry HIC again as i didnt really have to declare as much as i did when i got a quote. Not heard of Boncaster, so another to add to the list. 100% trying this Paul guy though, heard nothing but good things, and the name did pop up a few time on my hunt for companies.
Thanks again for the help, its much apreicated.
(Why i got a mk1 dub i dont know, no one wants to insure me)

You will find insurance mate it's just a case of shopping around and trying lots of different places and playing them off against each other with cheapest quotes.
Out of interest how old are you??

17, 1.6d caddy. £1380 so far. I know it is cheap, just kinda pis*ed off as before i got the car a company quoted me £1200, but that company now no longer exists.
The thing is my quote so far is so cheap that most companies are just saying "we cant even compete with that" But i know it can go lower, just a matter of finding who will do it.

TBH mate that's a pretty decent price for someone your age. No offence but insurance is an absolute nightmare at the moment. I think one problem for you is you might not be able to get classic car insurance like most owners on here have.
Is that with a limited mileage, not for work purposes etc??

Yeah, 2500 miles. Just for carrying Bikes (I BMX)
I mean i will take the aviva offer, but i can probably get them down as i said i would pay for the add ons when most of the time they are free if you ask, but they were the first ones i tried so wasnt too fussed. I know it is a good price, just kicking myself i missed the 1200 offer.

There might be a better one out there. Try Boncaster and give them your best price mate. What did Paul say?

Waiting for a ring back from need 2 insure. Then Boncaster, then HIC again to see if i can fiddle something. Then i just have to see where i stand. How long do need 2 insure normally take to ring back?

It depends mate. I waited till the next day once. If I were you I would just ring him back. He is very popular especially with the RS owners club so he's usually really busy trying to hunt round for the best deals.

I will give him another go at 4, and see if i can get through. Is it just him there? or is it worth asking for him on reception?

Hi James,
I was in your predicament last year when i was 18, turning 19. I tried insurance on a 1.6 golf and cheapest i got was £2600
most companies dont do classic insurance for drivers under 25, let alone under 21. your quote of £1300 is very good for someone your age with that engine! my insurance last year was £1700 and thats on a 1.3 atleast thiis yea with 1 yr NCB its gone down to £850
