Jimbo's Mk1 Golf 1.8t

more heart ache, as it won't start! I'm back in the BMW again, so the Golf will be staying in Derby while I'll be living in Cornwall! :(replaced the Crank sensor;

(Could of been the problem, but it wasn't!)

also picked up some Clio window motors and switches from the scrappers;

and figured out how to wire them up!

and today, got onto cleaning the wiring on the dash area;
unwanted wires;

anyone know what these 2 wires are for?;

the blue/grey goes to the heated rear windscreen, hazard, and fog light switches, and the black/yellow goes to the light switch unit, but can't figure out from the Haynes manual what they're for?

then;

now;

if you can tell the difference?! :D

Pants luck mate. At least if you pay a professional to put it right it saves you messing it completely??

Just wanted it running so I could cut out the wires that I didn't need, but I'm back off to Cornwall tomorrow, hopefully come back every few weeks. Going to get someone to check it out as well… Don't know who though- any ideas?!

Anyway, removed the rear axle, which will be coming down south with me!;

easy as to get off! 2 bolts either side where the mounts are, and one bolt for each of the coilovers. then cut the brake pipes. oh, and unscrew (or remove) the handbrake cables - that's if the bolts come off easy!
just spray WD40 on them a few days before you do, ease them off….
took me about an hour and half!

not to horrendous.

The power one might be just the way the power is supplied to the ECU via the relays.

Not sure what to do with the engine now! :(The chap who vagcom'd it thought it could be the ecu playing up. so going to get that sent off….

anyway, cleaned the rear shocks;

going to etch them and paint them (not the thread…)

Also, this lot is being scrapped on base;

had the suspension turrets and the engine mounts. thats all i need of it i think!
