Alright guys, hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather in their motors!

Bit of an update, now the car is running I can do stuff that I want to do! First step was the exhaust, now its the stuff that has bugged me since I bought it, and more importantly stuff that makes it mine.

The back was crying out for a bumper respray, so I did that recently. I just used halfords bumper paint, seems to have worked ok! Only slight issue is a few lumpy bits where the old paint had come off, but theres only so much I could knock it back with wet n dry. Luckily its not very obvious, its mint underneath the bumpers, was expecting a bit of scabbing!

I cleaned the boot out, 30 years of … hopefully soil.

The best thing I have done by far is take the black paint off the waistline trim, one of the previous owners must have painted them. Hated them being black, they should be as they came!!!!
So after a very long sunday, they now look a lot nicer. This pic was from Dubs Mania at the weekend, I've put all my pics up on here in the relevant section.

I've also taken off the horrible door armours. Hated them, and didn't see the point in them as they weren't on the back!?! I just need the larger of the gaskets for the door handles. Waiting on Heritage to get them in.

Hopefully see some people at Deva!!

Cheers.

Oh yea! this made my day too!

Also whilst I was at Dubs Mania I met the son of the original owner of the Jetta. The old owner is 80 odd now. Sold the Jetta 9 years ago as the garage wouldn't pass it with a cracked tail light, and a few other minor things.
This blokes kids grew up going on trips in the Jetta. So nice to hear about it, the kids used to call it the "hat car" apparently, as it was so high off the ground.

So glad I got to meet him!

Thought I would put a small update in seeing as I haven't posted in here for a while!

Jetta is going well, I've been to a fair few shows in her. I put her in the show and shine whenever I get the chance as I like to talk to people about it. Not bothered about winning prizes at the moment as she's not 100%, but I'm not too fussed! I'll get there.

With the bad rain we had the Jetta filled up with water again in the drivers footwell. It turned out to be a factory hole in the subframe, that I have now covered so fingers crossed!

The hole (I know the engine bay needs a clean lol)

Filling up from nowhere, it was getting underneath the rubbish painted on underseal

There's a hole in the sill on the inside, not rotten it looks like another factory hole, there isn't one on the passenger side though?

I cleaned the area up with a wire brush attachment

As for the hole, I fixed a plastic plate over the hole with a resin, got some sealant that you can paint on to, will sort it out properly in the near future, just needed to stop the water!

A few pics from some shows!

No plans in the pipeline at the moment due to starting my own business, just looking after the Jetta and making sure it wants for nothing. Looking back I've spent a fair bit on general upkeep and getting it reliable. I would like some "show wheels" but will keep them quiet till it actually happens.

Cheers!

Cheers mate.

No idea to be honest, I thought it was the original one.

One of the lads off here commented on it the other day at Tatton Park. Until then I never realised!

Couple of fresh pics! No changes to the car really, none planned in the near future, money depending I would like to take the engine out and clean it all up over the winter. Powdercoating/zinc plating as I go. We'll see!

Still no real updates, managed to finally get my rear door seal on, for some reason it didn't have one when I bought it, much nicer to drive around now it doesn't sound like the door is open lol.

Went to VW Action at the weekend, wasn't sure about entering the daily driver show and shine but went for it in the end. Gave the car the quick once over and left it to be honest. There were 2 other Jetta's in the S&S that I really liked the look of.

I went to the award giving to see if my old mates Mk2 had got a prize, and was completely surprised to get a top 10 daily award!
