I feel gutted for you 'Atomman'.
You must of felt seriously proud of owning one looking as good as that one!

But look at the positive side (if there is one) you haven't got the running and maintenance costs now either.  O_o  O_o

1275GT, actually a 1310 with twin 1 1/2" SU's great induction roar. Took me a long time to find the alloys, original Dunlop D1's pretty damn rare. Slightly ill fitting bonnet but i loved that car…….. Once the Golf's done a clubman will be my next project, happy days :)

That's a little Corker 'Jinjar'.
Had a Mini but nothing like that, always fancied one though!
Mine was a 1967, just an 850. Drove it till the Butt fell out of it, well the front floor to be precise.

This one

it was blue with a white roof when I owned it. Had to sell it about 20 years ago. Then saw it one morning when walking into NEC in 2005 to help on our club stand at Classic Motor Show. Was nice to see it again

I nearly cried Mike when it was driven away after selling it. First time I had heard it from outside the car and it sounded and looked fantastic!  :(

Happy memories of it though ;)

Oh gutted, that's a shame.

I saw a v. quick silver one at Retro Cars Show, Santa Pod last year. I'm not sure what was under the bonnet but it flew - made 130-140mph from memory on the 1/4 mile!  :o

Nice one!
Don't know exactly what it was about the XR2 but they were fun to drive.
Can't really put my finger on it other than to say they had there own little character!
Which is more than can be said for many of the pocket rockets of the time.

Like it.

My first car, MK2 Polo 1.3 Coupe Sport, brakes were rubbish, steered like a tank and cost me a fortune on insurance but I loved that little car, was really sad to see it go!

That's where my first VW bug bit!

Yeah I remember them well.

We used to say that if you wanted brakes, you should have ordered them as a factory fitted extra.
I think that's why the steering was so heavy, they didn't want you to steer it off a straight line and therefore require to much in the way of stopping power!

Haha yeah too true, definitely taught me how to drive by watching what was going on ahead of the car in front of me and to take stopping distances into account in that car!
