1989 white cabbie

hi all, been after another golf after selling my mk2 oak green valver and when this came up at my mates work devon dub shack i had to have it.only done 115k and only 1k in last 6 years,
plans are full white leather, coilies and wheels in white with polished rim and next spring full respray.
day i picked it up:

then the cleaning started as been sat in a barn for 2 years.
engine and arches first and well happy with results:

then interior before and after:

then first go with polisher and some ultimate compound:

have spent today doing full service and leads, cap etc and stripping brakes, luckily brakes all free and were new just before taken off the road so a quick drive will clean them up.just have to fix wipers and fog light and need 2 tyres as well so more money being spent tomorrow.

nice clipper.next up for me is full respray.found a bit of rust today by where the cable for the roof goes through but luckily not too bad plus small spot by the wipers.just collecting all the original clips/fixings for everything to go back on afterwards.been quoted £1200 for a show finish by local vw specialist so well happy.
the roof was a bit scary to do but surprised how easy in the end, just 1 or 2 small creases but will leave it a week or so to settle and see what its like then.

She looks great mate, you can't beat white.
If my memory serves me right, she comes originally from the I.O.W looking at the number, assuming she has the original plate.

If it makes you feel better, I paid a VW main dealer £1700 to paint the bonnet, front valance, both bumbers and a rear arch (just the arch).
When I went to pick the car up the new paint had more runs in it than Kitzbühel Ski resort!  :banghead:
And they were a bit shirty when I complained!
Have to be careful what I say but it rhymes with 'Trucking Tankers'.
Sure you want have that issue though.

One question, what did you use to clean the seats?
They look superb!

Same interior as mine. Gets properly dirty huh?! I went over mine 3 times and the water coming off it still wasn't clean.

Roof looks great. Did you just replace the exterior or the whole thing?

I had the same interior as that then I went for leather, having it done again now so have a nice tidy white leather interior going for a song.Check my thread.

have ended up staying with the original interior as found out car rather rare as an all white ltd edition one which were only meant to be made in 1986 and small bumper model yet factory in onsabrook put 105 down the line in 1989 and not many left in the uk.
