Hi all,

just though I would say hello as I am a new member and a new Mk1 GTI owner!  
Only just put down the deposit on my new baby. Always had a soft spot for the Mk1 and now I can enjoy the summer in style!  8) let's just hope we get some better weather!

Thanks for the welcome! I will be uploading pictures as soon as I pick it up and give it a good old buffing! At the minute I plan to keep it original however I want to clean up the engine bay and who knows what will happen…

I may need some help with slight engine mods/parts, I feel I'm in the right place!

i have had the car since march. low mileage looks the business, i fitted the new wheels a month or so back.

Nice one mate, have you got any other plans for the car?

i fancy a debaged single light grille. other than that i want to keep it stock, except for a carb upgrade perhaps, and=y advice on that would be nice

Not so much unfortunately. There is a meet each month in Burgess Hill apparently but not got round to getting there so far as I think it is in the evenings. There has been a VW meet on an annual basis for the past two years here in Crowborough but this year it is going to be at Bentley Wild Foul. I was thinking a while ago about trying to sort out something as I know a few mk1 owners near me and i'm sure there are others about that would like to meet up even if just for a beer somewhere.

I did hear about the one at Burgess Hill, I will pop along to that as only up the road for me. When is the annual at Bentley Wild Foul? Will try and get along. Also A beer somewhere would be good, even if it's just once a month in the summer or something alike.

Have a look on this site, I've joined but does seem to be mainly for campers and beetles. The link I've posted shows all of the local events so might be something there that takes your fancy and it's also got the one thats at bently Wild foul.
