Car is still cutting out :(
Ok so not sure if anyone has seen my posts but I've been having real issues with my cabby. So fair I've changed the filler pipe, all the pipes, flushed the system. New fuel pump. I took it to a carb specialist today got it bk running like a dream 20 miles down he road it died again. So annoyed i might just put it up for sale I just ant a car I can use not spent a small fortune on and sit and look at it!

Not read posts etc but have you checked for rust in tank, as you've changed filler pipe I'm guessing this was rotten?

Yep no rust, tanks as clean as a whistle. The pipe had a very small pin hole but t turned out the filler cap seal had gone.

I think so, it ran amazing when I got it bk from D&B, I could try swapping them, I've always had issues with my plug leads, I've neve found a king lead long enough!

maybe check the tci unit in the scuttle if its on electronic ignition. its the 7 pin thing bolted to the metal bracket. to check you have electronic ignition or not look at the dizzy, if it has a 3 pin plug its electronic. while you're lookign at dizzy check wires carefully, unplug it and look at the pins inside the plug make sure they're not dirty, bent or pushed back up inside the plug. peel the rubber boot back and check the wires are ok under there.
when you buy ignition parts are you just going to local auto factors and gettign whatever they sell? if so bin it all and buy new plugs, leads, cap and arm from here, all oem quality bosch/beru and will fit properly:
AVS Car Parts - [The VW - Audi - Seat - Skoda Parts Specialist]
check the coil too, make sure its a bosch one. if some cheap rubbish replace it! gsf sell these cheap. check the connections on the coil are the right way round, black to +/15, red/black to -/1.
Look at the connection for the king lead too make sure its the correct type to match the leads. early type have a round hole, leads have liek wings on. late have a pin in the hole, leads have a small round hole with a circlip to clip onto pin. mix these up and it throws spark all to pot

When it cuts out can you restart it straight away, or do you have to wait?

this sounds the same as mine is doing, mine starts up again straight away after its died. It cuts out way before the car gets to full running temp, then when you go to pull away it dies??

I got the car running a dream for 200 miles, fitted plugs, leads, dizzy rotar arm all top quality. Coming home tonight it pulled its old trick. Cough splutter and wouldn't rev. I'm wondering if the new carb that's fitted is defective? If so far changed the filler pipe, full fuel flush. Carb re built. New fuel pump. All electrics, all that's lEft to chande is tci unit, I did fit a new one but this made no difference so I took it off, dizzy and coil! I'm a bit sick of this.

not sure if i had same problem but it used to cough and splutter then loose power but did not cut out, cured this by taking return pipe off fuel reservoir or some call it vapour trap, and plugging both ends, now no problem
