Got calipers on yesterday
All running gear is now done.
Brought a engine from a member here, 1.8 lump with kent cam, vernier pulley etc, started stripping it down today and found this.
thick grey paste
Also cam pully was 3 teeth out, timing was 180 deg out, 3 threads stripped on the vernier pulley, did a compression test to check valves were ok, down on number 3.
Removed cam to find its picked up :-(
Thankfully james is sound and has agreed to refund. so 2 steps forward and 3 back, 20 days to go and its going to be really tight!

Thanks Matt but I have 2 engines already, just the fact this had the kent cam etc made it appeal.
Going to fit a mk2 engine now, strip clean and paint tomorrow, rather than fitting like I should of been doing :-(
The cam cover could be the cause as it was painted, when i had my covers were done they masked the breather mesh off to avoid this!!

Made some progress today, all wires are run round the engine, also alternator/starter etc are now fitted.
Got held up due to the metal coolant pipe being a bit crusty, lucky i found a local motor factor with one in stock so thats going to be painted and fitted tomorrow.
Rads mounted, new hoses and pull fan
Collecting bumpers tomorrow night so should be running and ready for mot by end of the week :dontknow: i doubt it tho
