Mk1 Cabriolet Project - Dorset
Got this in Januray. My first Mk1.
Came with two sets of wheels, with brand new tyres.
Has been off the road for 4 years.
Just needs a really good clean, service and a few bits touching up, or so I thought….
Very tidy otherwise!

Repainted the grill trim
Changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, dizzy cap, HT leads, fresh fuel.
Running sweet now.
Started repainting the wheels and did some research on them.
Can't find much. They are made my VotexSport who seem to be related to Ronal.
They were an optional extra on the VW Fox in America.
Also bought a replacement hood.
Mine is ripped and the headlining is a mess.

Update.
Failed MOT on Blue Smoke, rear brakes, front suspension, headlights.
So far I've rebuilt the rear brakes with all new parts, fixed the headlights, that was just a fuse.
Purchased some coilovers which I will be fitting next week.
Taken the cylinder head off to change the valve stem seals.
That wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
The hardest bit was the stupid C clamps on the exhaust manifold. Got them off using the exhaust clamp expanding method, worked quite well apart from there wasn't much room to move the spanner.
Putting it all back together now. Got a new cam belt to fit and tensioner.
Fitted a new alternator from a MK2 Golf.
Started after about 10 turns of the key.
Hopefully on the road in a couple of weeks.

Front coilovers fitted!
Had to wind them back up as I couldn't get the jack out or turn the wheels!

Also picked up a new boot for £5!
Where's the best place to get VW paint in a spray can?
Going to try and paint it myself.

looks cool on those wheels, just needs some low profile tyres in my opinion and it will look great.

Paint looks quite good for the age and once you get all the lil bits sorted you should have a tidy cabby

I'm in Tolpuddle, near Dorchester.
Are you in Dorset?
How the car is now:
Think I need some lower profile tyres to go lower on the front.

It's Halfords red primer with Halfords VW Mars Red no.2 over the top. And some lacquer.
Worked out a lot cheaper than buying the pre painted red trim off vw heritage/ebay.

I think your wheels might have been an option on Lupo's?
