Just failed the MOT which I expected it to do but not sure if it's terminal this time it looks like the steering rack will need to come off again to allow for some welding and it's gonna be expensive. Hate throwing money at it but I have come this far and dont really wanna quit now but my daily needs attention too.

Where does it need to be welded? the rack is fairly simple to remove so shouldnt be that much of a issue.

I can tig, mig an mma weld.. Need a bit of practice though.. Lol been nearly tWo years since I tigged  lol well up until the otherday when I had to weld up some 0.9mm 304 an blew a hole but after a 3cm bead it went okay.

Just was not up to medical an pharmaceutical grade though.

Na just a VW garage specialist ATM. While your at it, get with a guy on the side from GSF/EuroCarParts an your sorted for the life of the cabby really!

Not sure exactly I was at work when I spoke to him and couldn't really hear think he said the rack mount and thinks about 3hrs labour to take rack off and put it back + time it takes to weld which he doesn't know till he gets the rack off.

He always over quotes on time coz he knows I'll say "how much" when he gives me the final bill but does that sound reasonable or is he being funny

Rack mounts are quite common, he can drop the rack (30 mins) and should be able to get to where it needs welding.

30 mins would be good that makes quite a bit of difference on labour costs   I'll have a word on Monday.

If he drops it down it should give enough room to work in, obviously I don't know what needs doing?

me and my mate joe should be attending in our caddys, might be up for the camping too depending on the dates and emberton parks good as there are some nice pubs a short walk away in olney

Sorry to interrupt but guess bloody what?!!!!! I have been reunited with a mk1 cab!! Unfortunately I'm picking it up after tues meet so you guys will have to wait to see the beast! x
