the fault code reader i have is only a cheap 1 and i dont think it has that option!

anyway, spent the last few hrs going through the wiring checking for loose connections etc then just left it ticking over and it seem to have sorted its self out running much better now!

hope fully my last question. . .

how will i no if the car goes into limp mode with out the original clocks?
obviously i haven't driven the car with this engine in it before so i don't think ill no when its down on power

will iit just show the fault code that put it into limp mode?

thanks for your time, i feel like i have been a pain for the last few weeks but the end is back in sight!

buy a £10 vag-com cable that'll do everything you need. some faults will make ecu go into limp, some wont

i think thats probably the newer set up! theres loads of info on the forums for that, spend abit of time researching. mine will be slightly different! i ended up using an auto data print out for mine.
i would imagine most of the connections would be the same but the wire colors differ!
ill go back throught my bookmarks and post anything that mite be useful!

yeah there are 2 slightly different AGU wiring looms! the early one has a couple different pins to the later one, see my sig for vboth diagrams. also the early diagram still references T14a on the 2nd loom, even though its actually a 10 pin plug on the car!
