Exhaust manifold got hot and melted/lit the steering boot even though I heat wrapped and had a turbo heat cover behind

Thank to everyone who came to the show today and showed their cars, helped out or came to say hello and to Brad too for phoning to say he couldn't make the club stand as his car was on fire! 8O  
I'm so gutted for you, just glad you are OK.

gutted for you Cabbybrad, but if its any consolation the same happened to me a few years back, not the cause just the end result, mine was on fire to on its maiden voyage after my first attempt at a 16v conversion, and i know its to late now as it was me but this is the reason i always carry a fire extinguiser now ..

Cabbybrad I feel so much for you thats what we all hope never happens like dano says hope the insurance come good for you when you feel up to it please tell us what caused it just so we know so if there is anything we can watch out for so this doesnt happen to anyone else :redfaced: just read your post about the steering rubber cover.
If there is anything as a club we can do then just ask we will help if we can.
