the mk2 is the only car for me really, the cab was supposed to be a 'quick project' for me and my dad to get stuck in together. best laid plans eh!

I know where it is right now its owned buy the guy who runs the mot place i take my golf to, currently awaiting a respray. god knows when he'll do it though.  If i had somewhere to store it id buy it back!

Any update on this castle, have you managed to contact the fitter yet?

Jut seen the bit about the little gap, between the seals.

You will need to adjust them to get the best fit, sliding them backwards and forwards. Also when he fitted the foam gaskets, he probably didn't leave an overlap either end. this folds up and onto the seal ends to take the space up.

Also the sillicone needs applying to opening of the rear window before the seal and glass goes back in, as well as the outside edge as Johnny pointed out.

cheers

You can do a hood as you know but poor old castle has spent his money on a Pro Vera, so he didn't have the hassle and get an A1 job done, after all he bought new pad, headliner, interliner, hood. He hasn't skimmped on putting on new what's neccessary to get the finish perfect.

Proper shame, hope he manges to get some redress out of the fitter.

He is probably aguing with them now as we speak.

There seems to be a lot of mentioning of non-setting mastic when talking about sealing the roof around the header seal and under the foam gaskets. I've got to replace my foam gaskets as soon as they come in on order from the dealers.

Problem is, I've been hunting around for non-setting mastic and can't seem to find any. Can someone recommend a brand/shop where I can get some? Or will any black silicone sealant do?

Gav you can buy non setting mastic from wickes or B & Q etc.
It's in a tube use for sealant gun.
It says roof and gutter sealant on it though.
Make sure you run a strip of masking tape under so you don't get it all over the paint work.

Cheers
