My new ride and my first MK1
Hi all
I have been a member of the forum for a while now but never had a MK1
Anyhow I swapped my MK2 for this today
Bought it back home today and with the help of a mate we set to work on it straight away
New seats fitted so I am no longer sitting in a hole
Door cards fitted and new window winders ( I think I have located the rest of the doors fixtures and fittings so they will be fitted as soon as possible)
And last but not least a MK2 steering wheel as the original Caddy wheel felt like I was driving a bus
Still lots to do on it but at least I have made a start
Hope you all like it and all criticism welcomed whether good or bad

Not sure what I am doing with it yet to be honest but the top is removable so may just leave it in the garage and use it as and when needed
as for the bed I will eventually be decking it after it has had a good coat of paint
the body also needs re painting as it was hand painted in matt black after someone sprayed graffiti over it but again I am unsure whether to spray it in the original red or change the colour
I think the first job is to find all the missing parts for it

Not much got done today as other things took priority but I managed to source a few missing parts as mentioned earlier in the thread so the door cards now look better.
I have decided that as I have the rear bench that matches the caddy seats the fabric will be used to make new door cards soon
anyway this is what they look like with a few less holes in them
Also I replaced the broken door handles so both doors open properly now

Few battle wounds, but looks solid from those pics!
I'm jealous - Would love a caddy…

won't take long to sort out hopefully
it's only really the paintwork that lets it down now and the front bumper

Those wheels look nice!
You might be able to get back to the old paint with a couple of gallons of thinners and some rags. :dontknow: Hard work but I reckon it'd be worth it.
I'd keep the truckman top too. 8)

Well after hours of scrubbing i stink of solvent based thinners but it is a small price to pay as the canopy is now free of graffiti.
I still need to vo over it again as there is a yellow tint to it due to the graffiti being sprayed in yellow but it looks a hell of a lot better already

Well the awful black paint job is starting to disappear and the doors now open without putting up a fight thanks to the help and hard work of a couple of mates
