That bonnet picture is lush Jelly!!  What I'd advise getting is a remote where you can do interval timing.  Cost me £13 and you can make things like this quick vid I did of traffic http://vimeo.com/31574450
It's photography, but not as we know it Jim!

Yeah it's good fun.  Another one is to spin the camera through about 45 degrees to get a swirly effect :)  Just experiment and follow no rules I say (possible exception… the rule of thirds)

What shutter speeds were you using for the 1st two?

Post

first 2 are around 10sec @ f22 using a ND filter 8 stops :)

Went out with my micro four thirds camera today about 100 yards from where my house is being built  :D

These are straight from the camera.

Have ordered some filters to enable me to use even longer shutter times.

they look really nice mate

what sort of filters have you ordered?

Cheers mate.

Ive ordered a circular polarising filter, mainly for capturing blue sky in summer.

And I went for a neutral density filter so I can get slower shutter speeds.

Hows your course going?

Post

course is brilliant, loving it

I've just bought a set of 100mm sqaure filters, with a 10 stop ND so will soon be able to do seriously long exposures

Circular polarising filters are very usefull i have them for my lenses, here's 2 of mine with the filters, just have to remeber to turn them sometimes :)

a circular polariser will allow you to run longet exposures, i think they take things down 1 or 2 stops :)

do you have an iphone ceri?

There great mate.

Thats the sort of shots I would be doing.

Im not to clued up on filters as ive never really used them.

Am I right in thinking a circular polarising filter is split into 2 halfs?

No I dont have an iphone mate, im on android.

Post

oh right

theres some good apps out there that calculate the exposure time when using ND filters. I use one called Longtime exposure Calculator

Yea they are split but not sure in what way

Ah right, ill have a look to see if theres any apps for my phone.

Ill start doing more photography when I move into my house as the scenery on my doorstep is great.

1st time I used the camera in months today.

Keep the pics coming.

been out messing with my new filters today

went to a place called lumsdale valley in derbyshire near matlock

unfortunatley the sun disapeared behind the hill as we were in the valley so lost alot of detail, but still look nice and moody :)
