Doing a Full respray myself.

Don't EVER spray 2 pack without a proper air-fed mask though, it's proper nasty stuff. Ever wondered why you never see a retired painter?

Hi scooblitz! undertaking a full respray for a novice is a VERY big challenge! i do vehicle bodywork for a living and its not as easy as it look for the money you will have to spend out on tools and materials plus im guessing rent of a garage?? fennel0 is on the button! you can take all the pleasure of stripping and fitting it yourself and pay alot less money to the bodyshop in labour charges if theres no bits to take of!
anyway heres a list of most of the stuff youll need if you want to have a go
flatting papers and DA discs
p40
p80
p180
p320
p600/800
p1200
p2000
Materials
body filler UPOL smooth 7 is ok for rough work and UPOL extra glod for your final skim
2pac high build primer
an epoxy etch if you want to go mad with rust and panel protection
a DA
a hvlp spray gun 1.2-1.4 setup
a primer gun with a 1.8 setup
a compressor with a 10cfm or above depends on the length of your airlines
a water trap for your airline to stop water coming thru with the paint.
masking tape 2" and 1"
masking sheet palstic or paper
mixing cups
mixing stick
paint filters 280 microns are good for both primer and paint
Paint harder
paint
thinners
and a regulator for the air pressure going into your gun
hope this helps abit any questions give me a shout
p.s id try and stick with a 2pac paint to start with as dubhighland is right you can flat that to with in an inch of its life! base and clears are more involved i.e the prep process and the painting of them
