its been a while since my last update.

had the car mot'd and it did fail on quite a few items. a very very picky tester but atleast i know what needs to be done.

anyway spent the last 2 weeks on axel stands fixing the suspension and some parts. rear anti rollbar bushes and new clamps which were a pig to fit. another service. the oil i took out looked as new but a new oil change and filter it had.

in the meantime i have once again changed my wheels. the car now looks standard enough for my wedding next month. i will be raising the car about 20-30mm rear and another 10mm at the front so its all balanced out.

the car is curently at stealth racing in southam having a new inner cv boot and a steering rack gaiter fitted. also a few bits to be done with the brakes. nothing to serious just some adjustments. and then the tracking and shes almost ready.

ive also got some underlay for the carpet from newton as the carpet keeps pulling away. then ill give her a good detail and polish with my rotery and she should be ready for my wedding.

anyway heres a little pic of the new wheels.

Hello All,

The last month has been a testing time let me tell you.

Took the car for its mot expecting to pass or only have a few minor issues as last year it flew past.

Anyway it failed and quite badly. Probably my own fault for taking it to a testing station but then again its good to find out whats wrong.

So took the car away and put it on 4 axel stands for about 2 weeks why I did most of the work. That was an everyday with the car for some hours as I am a novice so everything takes a lot longer.

As you all know parts are cheap but as I didn't have all the tools I needed I had to spend a bit on tools . So got the car sorted apart from a split steering rack gaiter and inner cv boot also tracking and just to check around the suspension as it doesn't seem right and the rides horrendous.

I thought I need the job done properly so took it to stealth racing in Southam. Or those who don't know stealth they now specialise in remaps for vag and upgrades to turbos etc. not so much the old cars anymore.

Anyway gave them the car and it was a good price so left them with it.

Got a call to say that they can certainly do all the work but they've noticed loads of bits that need sorting. They suggested that they take it for another mot around the corner as the guy is spot on and will give me everything that's wrong with it. (some people won't like to know everything but I do).

Anyway got the info back and boy was I shocked.

Pretty much the whole front suspension bushes were pants and needed changing. Also the wishbones which is where I had thought there was a slight knock was right and they were rotten and bushes were done. also he had noticed that the outer cv boot on the other side had a very very small hole.

Also the rear passenger drum brake was just spinning so no hold on the brakes at all. Apparently I only had about 25% braking from the whole system. also the rear axel bushes have had it. When the tester was checking them out he had then noticed my biggest shock. The bit where the sills and the arches meet have both got a bit of corrosion which he failed it on.

Anyway got a quote for the job with parts and let me tell you almost had a heart attack. Anyway after speaking with vince there we had come up with an agreement on labour if I supplied the parts. Basically I would then get the car back 100% sorted and mot'd.

Parts list was quite large:

2 x wishbones with bushes
2x inner antiroll bar bushes
2 x outer antiroll bar bushes
2 x outer antiroll bar clamps
2 x ball joints
2 x top mounts
1 x outer cv boot
1 x inner cv boot
1 x steering rack gaiter
2 x handbrake cables
2 x brake flexi hoses
2 x rear axel bushes - was cheaper to get the poly ones
New locking wheel nuts as the old was were crap.
Im sure theres more but I cant remember.

So I dropped off all the parts yesterday and they have almost finished taking out the rot and then welding in new bits. Just waiting for them to have them treated etc looks good tho.

The guy was surprised as he said the cars in great nick but just a few bits needed doing. The rust is only at those little bits and that's it the rest is solid. So that was some good news.

Once I get the car back it should be mint.

So all this and im getting married in 2 weeks. Unfortunately I had to cancel the fireworks to get the car fixed  but this will be my wedding car for the day so had to be done.

Heres a few pics
