Part of the wall art is a section of Mk1 roof extension that inititally went badly wrong, when attempted by a relative novice in the bodyshop. Perhaps it's there as a reminder to leave such jobs to the experts who then turn it into a serious piece of art

BTW, which Owners Club should he join... Jetta or Golf ?
