yeh, im not sure about re-makes sounds pretty unlikely
you might be able to modify an old one though if your into electronics, ebay's probably your best bet

the most common stereos found were blue spot ones, and there is a company that can modify old radios to work with ipods etc. not cheap though!! they also sell ready modified ones. look here:

There are a few originals on german ebay right now ranging from £100 upwards, and they came equipped with FM, AM and perhaps MW and LW - but defintiely has a DIN connection so you could hook up an ipod through an adapter.
They do look very cool……. got my eye on one of these in the future.

I've got a very nice early Blaupunkt radio with tape cassette function, I think it's originally from a 911SC.
Early Blaupunkts have the Aux connection on the back, the aux cables are easy enough to make, or can be bought online and connect through the Aux DIN slot.
I've bought and sold quite a few period Blaupunkts now, I've got a bit of a fetish for them! :redfaced:

I've got a period Blaupunkt CD player in the Sportline (I'll take some pics of it and the Porsche unit this afternoon).

Here are a few more pics to show the connection to Blaupunkt units
6 pin DIN connection (should be covered by a clear plastic plug)
Example Aux cable:
Connected up:
You can get all the parts to make these from Maplins or similar.

Here's my Blaupunkt München CD player:
Showing Blaupunkt Keycard for security:
Keycard removed:
And my Blaupunkt Goslar CR radio, thought to be originally from a Porsche SC:
It has a separate station presets/tuner (on top of the radio in the pic) that can be positioned near the driver. 8)

Wow I think I've started something here!
Gavb59 you really do have a retro head unit fetish, Thanks for your help. Yeah this is very very useful. I'm going to go on a bit of an e-bay hunt for a Blaupunkt radio or a blue spot. Will take a few pic's and post up the progress. If anyone finds anything suitable let me know. 8)
