Car suggestions to replace comapny car

Hi Scott, yeah give us a txt mate and pop it round any night and i will get the kettle on.

Thanks for the shout on the C2 but not really my thing

ant5 glad to hear you got something, i had an alfa before an loved it, but no too keen on the newer ones. + my old alfa was a 2.5 v6 24v 156 which i dont think a diesel is gona live up too :-).

update ive stretched my budget to 14k, not worried about auto or manual now as my back only been really bad once in last 24 months so can borrow an auto for a bit if needed. Im still being pulled towards a 520D, just waiting for the right year, mileage and spec to come up in budget. I will be changing it in next month as Lexus i bought from old man is doing like 24MPG ! ! ! and gona need MOT and TAX next month, so will re mot it but no gona tax it as a big £250!

watch this space more than likely a 520D m sport will be purchased by end of month :-)

PS - if any one wants a very tidy 2003 LEXUS IS 200 SE AUTO in blue with cream leather, wheels just refurbished, FSH and only 52,000 miles give me a shout ;-)

At the risk of repeating something that someone else has said, I've got two thoughts;

1.  Depreciation, depreciation, depreciation - its the single biggest cost; and

2.  The Mk5 (or mk6) Golf GTD 170bhp - I had one of these. Real world as fast as GTi, heated leather seats, 50 mpg, good handling, comfortable

Bought for £15k, sold back to garage 10 months later after 12k miles for £13.8k

Worth a thought - 18month old one would probably be in budget…….

Good luck with your search - lots of tasty cars out there.

Jaysson !

Have you got a name & number for him? feel free to PM me, i am happy to call him and let him know budget and what i am looking for, if he maybe able to get me a good deal :-)

Is he a main dealer sales guy though? my local BMW cant RETAIL anything in my budget as mileage is usually a little high for thier approved scheme, but i do know a guy at that BMW dealership who has a nice PX coming in who may let me know where it is being sold to so i can do a deal with that garage as a direct trade, no cleaning etc before they sell it

o.k guys so with some peoples advice, but agaisnt others lol i gave in and got a BMW !

Some of you saw it at the AGM as my mk1 wasnt running, but im chuffed with it, got a good year, good spec, good mileage and FBMWSH.

I have done the sums and with my car allowance it should be o.k , but ask me that in a year when i have paid out for 19" run flats and servicing lol.

The MPG is amazing, ride is great and all being well i am going to find a BMW specialist for servicing, not main dealer so maintainance costs shouldnt hit me too hard….

So here is the lexus i had for a short while, lovely car but not economical enough for my job, and then the BM :-)

looked nice at the show mate, i have had bmw's for years without to many issues considering i don't service them, i just drive them until they die and get another one, current one is a 55 plate 320d had it from new its got 140k on the clock (so worth nothing now really) zero service history and still going strong :D the one before that was a 320 petrol and i got it upto 165k before deciding i wanted a diesel so gave that to my dad he got it upto 180k until the timing chain snapped, but he still loves it so i found him an engine with 35k on it and stuck that in for the cost of 1200 quids which isn't a bad cost for a 9 year old car that had never been serviced lol just over 120 quid a year .. you would pay more than that servicing it every year :D

Rich

Ive had 3 of these now and they have been my favourite car. Chipping the 520d will make a massive difference  :)

The 520d m sport for all round economy but the 530d m sport for torque and 29 mpg.

Thought the 3 litre diesel was the best engine that BMW did until I got the 3.5litre diesel in my X3, it is the same 3 litre diesel but with 2 turbos, it was brilliant but 24 miles to the gallon    so ditched it this year for a 120d coupe m sport and getting 50 miles to the gallon  :D

Still miss the 5 series though

Forgot to say I hope there is no snow as the 19" spiders that you have are brutal in the white stuff  :banghead: BUT they look the biz.

Thanks mate, i did a bit of reading up and asking around and most people have said that the re map wont damage engine and that in most cases manufacturers de tune the cars for sale so that they meet reg's across different countries etc. i thought the 19's and rear wheel drive might be tricky in the snow and got a bit hill by my house as well :-(

120D coupe M Sport nice, get some pics up!

and dont forget if your ever selling that sportline let me know, think im gona possibly go for a sportline next summer or at some point over the next 18 months sell the clipper and look for a red sportline :-)

You need the 19" alloys on the car as my first one had the 18" and they look terrible. The spiders are a lovely wheel and set the car off perfectly! They are undriveable in snow though so remember that, I have got winter wheels and tyres for my 1 series.

The wee 120d coupe is great sitting on 18" and white with black leather but heard that I am just about to get a company van or car so it will prob have to go?

Unless I had to for some strange reason the Sportline will never be sold, hopefully! I love it and got a new stainless exhaust at the weekend and it now sounds great too!!
I just keep working through a list of things to do to improve it when I have the cash.
