Golf Gti -1979
It`s doesn't happen so much in the garage at the moment, most outside of it actually!
And I'm not finished yet! The doors will be white, etc
And the litle golf got a new litle friend in the garage too! It will be a later project!

It does not happen so much …
But I've got some stuff home and i have started with the brake pipes anyway..
Now it's only coilovers that are missing, but it will take a while..
And I bought a complete 1,6 GTI EG engine from 1981 with 5 speed gearbox, which I will touch up and put in the car
instead of building one ..
4 speed and 5 speed!
Regards!
Tommy

Since I have been bad at updating this thread I think i will refer to my Swedish project thread instead if anyone is interested about the car.
Its writing in Swedish, but there are some pictures anyway!
http://www.garaget.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=195407
And here`s also a thread about my 1976 Scirocco TS.

Just in case i forgot to update here….

This is an amazing project!
I can't wait to take the golf off the road so I can get something like this done, although probably not to this level of detail!

I have fixed a little bit more with the engine!
I also picked apart and clean the oil pump and measured the clearance in it, and it all looked ok!
And first I put all things back to the original top…
But then I changed my mind and switch to a vented(?) top with an enem G6 camshaft (288 degree)!
Heres the original top on:
But first i put back som new fuel lines in the engine bay.
a new sensor
Fuel pressure regulator from a saab 900 T16 -1985 (the left one).
And then I removed the original top
On with the new cylinder head gasket.
And new top bolts.
And on the whit the other top .. it is cut out a little bit around the lifters so that the camshaft can rotate freely.
The original camshaft vs. The Enem camshaft.
Here I am in full action!
Here its shows that the channels are well vented (or whatever it's called in English??
And a new waterpump and cam belt kit.
And then I got a little bit done with suspension
The old ones was not in good condition..
So they changed to a set of coils instead
Even the old conrol arms exchanged for new ones.
Then i fixed the 5 speed gearbox!
New clutchkit 200mm.
Got some help from one of my little girls!
So now is the engine and box in the car anyway! But its much to do before i can test to start it!!
And finally, I have also ordered some 15x7" rims!
Drag Wheels DR-20 Offset:10
All for now!!

Unfortunately, it has not happened as much with the car recently.
But I'll make a start soon again whit it!
After all, it supposed to be on the roads in the summer of 2012!

But i have not made any modifications to the bodywork and will still have the original interior. So the modifications I made to the chassis, brakes, wheels, engine and so on can be replaced with original parts again if you would want to make it completely original sometime in the future
