Connecting my choke? Weber conversion URGENT HELP REQUIRED!

hey dude, not sire if it helps you but i have taken this image of mine so you can see how mine is attached, best of luck mate

this is a photo taken from above the brake servo so its a pic of the battery side view of the the carb, if i push the semi circle shaped item at the base of the image towards the bulkhead (right of image) the revs rise.

Hi Alex, done a search and found a picture of a carb I think is the same as yours, it looks like the part i`ve circled is missing on yours, so youve nowhere to clamp the cable onto, hope you can get it sorted. Pete

Cheers folks, i've just checked all the images against the car's setup, it is indeed missing the clamp, and the lower semi-circle section, down and right of the red circle.

This gives me two options,

A) Buy a new carb, which I don't have the money for at all

B) Try and source or fabricate the missing mechanism, but if I start making pieces for it, it opens up a whole new issue of correct choke settings etc.

Any idea's guys?
Much appreciated,
Alex

you could trying PMing funk-star as he may very well have a whole carb that he could sell you for a very reasonable price, or he may even break it for parts and sell you the bits he needs, he's a sound guy that will be willing to help!

good luck!

Sorry bud about late reply having to rely on others, got pic but not teh best taken by them lol as i did not have time to go myself, but wil show what you need.
The one brucie posted is for 1.6/1.8 mk1/2golfs (32/34dtml)
Woodpm posted correct carb (36tlp)
Quick way to tell difference is the manual choke cable and accelator cable are opposite sides to the 2 different carbs.
It looks like the connections for the choke have been removed, why is beyond me, but the carb should still run without it, only downside is when colder months you will have to sit with foot on pedal til she warms up.
You will stil be able to set the idle and mixture without fella
As regards possible parts contact www.fastroadcars.co.uk see if they can help, he is a weber dealer
Best wishes fella

Cheers Pete,
I've tracked down a company that has a bit more experience & pricing than the fastroadcars guy, but i've bought loads of jets etc from him for my 34 ICTs on my Bug.

All is good, i've got to fork out about £144 but should be great, brand new carb, it's off an audi 80 with the same model, but the guy is jetting it all appropriately for my engine :D

Cheers for all your help guys, much appreciated :)
