Golf N 1.1 81 project.... BIG UPDATE!!

Hi everyone,

My names jim and i live in essex,  ive got a 1964 beetle but ive always wanted a mk1!
So the search was on!

Then i found one on ebay, it was a mk1 golf N 1.1 1981 with 62000 on the clock, so i phoned up the fella and said what would want for the car and he said £700 so i quickly said il have it, i couldent belive my luck!

So once i brought the car, i started to strip the car, but need 2 new wings and complete front valence as the old ones are dented and slightly rusty  :(  My intentions for the car are to keep original with a few extras, take the engine out and clean and paint it and replace parts with new genuine parts, paint engine bay and car orginal colour or some think similar, get the interior re-trimed in tweed cloth, new carpets, lots of chrome for the outside including chrome bumpers    coilovers and fit my BBS RMs

But can someone please help me i want to know what a golf N is? ive only ever seen 1 before :?
and the steering wheel?
last of all the seats, ive never seen them without head rests before only on the realy early golfs, so can someone tell me why its got them? (i love the seats without headrests, and thats how there staying!)

So here are a few pics of her!

N spec is the lowest spec you could buy from the dealership i.e with no optional extras (such as headrests, basic steering wheel, passenger door mirror etc). I have a 1979 Polo N, super basic, but all the cooler for it.

I love the colour and the plans sound cool, keep the same colour and the 1.1 engine, refurb the steelies and they'll be ace for winter too.  8)
