Hi, love the build but if youve put that much effort in i would move the fuel filter.  The position its in now is because of the way its moved over from the mk2 but the slightest knock on the front end (just behind the light) could spell disaster!  Your fuel lines look knackered anyway so get a set of braided ones made up approx £100 and move the filter back to the suspension turret.  Look at photos of mk1 16v engine bays and a lot of people do that, pic of mine below (i cut down the original bracket and bolted it to the turret).

Good look with the rest of it.
Cheers
Steve

Hi, just found another photo showing it all.

I used an original fuel filter bracket and cut drilled it to fit on the turret (could be neater but its secure).

You can get the lines from Crazy Quiff or get them made up by somebody like Pirtek, they have outlets everywhere, usually for industrial applications.  I took the ends off my old lines in with me and gave them the lengths i wanted them to run.  Not sure what position the CQ ones would put the fuel filter in

Hope this helps

yeah cheers mate that helps alot, ive got another question for ya cuz from the look of ur pics uve got the same air filter box as me. the one i had on the car had been cut off at the bottom (wasnt really a great job) so i just bought a second hand one from the jumble sale at edition and on the bottom of the box it basically has a hole for a pipe to go onto and im not sure wat this is/was for, was it for summat on the mk2 and nothing to worry about or have i gotta do summat about it, also how did u fit it?

ill try and show u wat i mean with ur pic

That had a air intake hose on it to direct cold air into the box.  I also had to cut away quite a bit of the base of the box see photo below and i drilled out the side of it to allow more air in, just make sure you only do below the filter level !
I positioned it so that most of the air will come from the LHS which i figured would be colder (non engine side), eventually i will run a hose from the front spoiler to direct cold air into this area…. one of the jobs on the list !!

so that hole for the pipe isnt a problem left open? that looks like a better fit that wat was done to mine lol i dnt understand wat u mean about the fuel filter level? :redfaced:

If you drill the box above the level that the air filter sits then dirty air will get sucked into the inlet bypassing the filter.  Only drill the bottom section of the box and you will be fine  :D
