Anyone into RC cars?

I bought an RC helicopter years ago and never really got it going (was too scared to take off).  It was fuel powered and scared the crap out of me…. I was just looking for some small hand sized RC cars to buy and bring to our Milton Keynes meets in November/December as a sort of RC league head to head bit of fun…. the ones I was looking at were £10 or so each which is good value for lots of micky taking and fun.  BUT….. have you seen the mini-z series!?!?!?!?  These things are proffessional, super agile and mega fast  8O  8O  8O  8O …. It's like it's own world with cup competitions and things!!!!  They have dampers, tyres, suspension etc which is all configurable like really racing…. absolutely amazing!!!  They have a Lanzia body shell on there but nothing on the mk1 golf/mk2 golf  :( …. bloody awesome looking things!!!!  Be boring getting one yourself but these cups etc look awesome!!!!

Check HERE For the cars I'm talking about

god damn!!! those things are rapida loca!!! i love RC cars, ive got a hover craft but it needs a surface it can get a vacuum on like water or laminate floor, wont work on tarmac, however will work awesome INSIDE Ikea! hmmm!

theres a really good RC circuit at Silverstone, the largest permant indoor circuit in the world i think. They also have F1 and rally simulators that you can have a go on might be worth a trip for the MK meet outing or something?

and a mate of mine has an original VW baja bug shell that hes restoring for his petrol RC

SO COOL cant believe how quick those things are!!

cool!

i know! all i could afford was a focus rally car from argos, and i destroyed that! mate of mine had a 4x4 monster truck one (twice the size of said focus) and doing the whole, "lets drive towards each other and we'll turn at the last minute!!!!!"

yeah…ok we did that and he went right and i went left…..do the maths!

ha ha,

I always wanted one, there was a shop in central bristol and i always used to go and look at the escort cossie in blue and yellow with the michelin stickers, never got one though :-(

however some guys close to me has got a really quick petrol one, which i found is great for my dog, she chases it and chases it and chases it!

ones now on my list so rather then get fit walking dog, i can sit on a bench with a six pack and let her chase the car round the field for a couple of hours!

if i was still using the desk top i got some pic's off my pureten with all the hop ups you can image for tarmac ripping 44mph(at the time very fast for dry cell power) i chased it at once lol, going back 10 years hitting 40 was hard to acheive

i belive losi or shumacher now do a 50mph out the box

also my drift set up pureten witch cost a fourtune but was worth it was one off the top boys at my local club had plenty off people wonting my car as it was perfectly balanced, again dry cell

i had a staduim truck hpi rush evo which my best m8's rescued off me i tore that thing apart needs some tlc, nitro powered and clocked at 39mph

about 2 years ago i found love again with rc's and tryed to get hold off a shumacher menace 70+ out the box 4x4 very nice bit off kit, in the end i could not track a new one down as they had discountued them, i settled for another staduim truck

traxxis jato 3.3 rwd and timed just right will pull a wheely from 3-5mph upto 60ish even threw the gearchange, tops out at 72 i,ve been told i have tryed to follow and get a rough idea off mine, but never had a fast enough car to keep up with it lol,

0-60 is something stupid around 4 seconds

currently awaiting my m8 to fix the my old rush his now got as he reckons he can keep up with mine when its done lol

i not used the jato this year its abit to late for nitro cars now as its to cold in the day, and can crak the heads, but i might just dig out the pureten but i will need new diff 1st lol

cheers mate its a shame thats the only vid ive got of it thats running the old 29cc engine i try and get a vid of it now as its got a 23cc engine built by the on and offroad world champion ian oddie the things much quicker now its nearly double the bhp until you see one in the flesh and try picking it up you dont realise how heavy they are and it takes a lot to stop then mine runs discs on the front wheels and a hydolic brake on the rear this would break you ankles no problems at all if it hit you so large spaces are needed

if it aint broke dont fix it but betters allways better

on tarmac my jato would be faster lol, trouble is where mines light and 1/10 the wheels just have no traction on grass,

my m8's hyper 7 can't think who make them on top off my head, its 1/8 alot heavyier and will make traction on grass leaves mine for dust

this is a jato
- YouTube

ingnore the 75 i not watch whole vid i know 73 is just about possible with 30% fuel and not rear spoiler, with the spoiler on it will just about 65 as quoted from box but thats with 15%

personaly i use 20% with a slight tune and new plugs regular,

there pretty low maintaince

how are the 2 stroke buggers to look after then, often thought about upper to 1/8 purely after a few seconds on full plit there so far away barely see a 1/10 lol,

years ago there was a 1/6 club on the seafront, racing stocks i always wonted a bash back then, but it was so boring  compared to the 1/10 touring circuits we had around at the time, now we only got one club this way its a dead hobbie since the play station

i used to run nitros myself but got out of hobby for a couple of years then saw my mates 1/5 scale and that was it yes there not a fast as there smaller brothers but there less agro there easy to tune use normal 2 troke petrol and real spark plugs plus a tank of fuel lasts about 45mins if you can kepp it unbroken long enough  if i was to run it on road i could put on a 2 speed gear box and hit 70 80 mph but i wouldnt want to try it or crash it at that sort of speed

if it aint broke dont fix it but betters allways better

tbh i run mine in the woods were i live, its dusty and has loads of open space but it will not engage 2nd unless your really smooth, i probly only really use it in short bursts of full power, i know what you mean if you can keep them in one bit i been lucky with the jato but then it cost more than the hpi i had for this sort use, my puretens i had were spotless wish i still had my drifter cost heaps but got offered more then it cost me when i finaly parted ways, was well known in my local club at the time, and got alot off attention becuase you can buy these drift chips which measure alsorts of crap, to aid the car to stay at a set angle and set power or trim to the steering , i got accused heap loads off having one and off course there was a ban, and my car was stripped loads off times, requests off using another members batterys and when that became no good was then asked to demostrat my potentail skills on other members car, i was still good but nothing like i was with mine, and in the end people just got the message mine was the best, don't mean to blow my own, but after spending shit loads to make it have one purpose and one purpose only to be perfectly balanced when sideways,

if anyones into rc's and wont to learn to drift with one unless you have the money which you do really need, just lock the diff's back and front(blue tack) and some abs wheels is the cheapest way to start but will drain bats and sound like poo at same time
