North east meets ???

Anyone know of any meets happening in the north east ??

Would really like to take my car to one !!

No im not mate just on this one,

But i agree would be great to get a meet going if there isnt one we should do something about it !!

Be good to try get as many people involved as possible,

Wow your just up the road from me although im new to mk1 ownership after corrados and lupos……

Meet is deffo a viable plan though

Anyone with ideas on locations please have an input

Might be worth contacting VW deler network and doing it at a dealer, good free press for them etc

Mines a daily driver so dont expect anything flash !!!, saying that she is sound just needs a paint job now !!

My MK1 is also a daily but super low and banded steels with a KR conversion ;-)

As far as where we go now i think ideas on location are a good place to start then some prelim dates…….

Iv only had mine about 6 weeks, been after one for years, so now my kids are older i went out and bought one !! class

Iv given her a full fluid and filter change, timing belt, dizzy cap and rotor arm !

She has a Wbber 32/34 carb with a huge exhaust special made stainless getting a K&N air filter next month, iv got rid of all the rust sports resprayed her myself where she needed it, turned out ok i think but she does need a full spray next year.

The roof is only 2 years old, elec as well, just need some new scraper seals for the front doors and she will be mint for the cold weather coming.

i have family in blyth - small world - as far as meets are concerned im not fussed on location dont go south of the tyne much so im not much help there this might give me the inscentive to put mine back together!!!

Right ill start it, lets meet up in a weeks time ! say Sunday at 2.00pm ! now there's the time and date now we need suggestions on where to meet. !!



lets say somewhere like a public park that has a decent car park, ??

As for meet times im affraid im working every weekend uintill sat 6th Nov!! bloody crap shift pattern but perhaps arranging a monthly meet the 1st weekend of every month or something like that and alternating the location north and south of the tyne and so on?

Perhaps for the winter months meets with a pub or smething near by may be a good idea as noone like to be in the cold for too long even if MK1s are involved as lets face it we spend winter days underneath the bloody thinhs ;-)

And a s for location that sound fine as well, we could have a different location each time, like say one month at mine and we will have it near me, then someone else and have it near them and so on !!

that sounds good to me ( might have car sorted aswell by then :wink: ) there was also a lad in sunderland just joined aswell so he might be up for it aswell!

ok well lest say sat 6th Novemer as a first meet date? I also think it gives us time to spread the word of the meat over local forums that other drivers may be using or dub fans that want to attend.

Im usure as to website permision im unsure but i believe its an open forum, it may be worth checking up on though so we know were not treading on anyones toes.

Im pretty easy as far as location is concerned but perhaps something central to the north and south of the region for the 1st one so its as easy as possible for everyone? Could be worth looking at specialist VW garages etc if they had land we could use for free publicity althought unlike a lot of meets i cant see the police needing to interveen with a mk1 owners meet so public areas are prob not a worry, only thing being that the proposed time of 2pm there will be a lot of people using car parks so this needs to be considered.

I'd be well up for some meets in the northeast!!!  Got my baby a couple of weeks ago and need to start getting her up to scratch so would be good to meet some guys n gals doing the same thing.  I'm not too fussed on location…but I'd say maybe weardale/teesdale areas as there are some amazing locations.  Or just somewhere central then go for drives to places.  N I'm the same boat as you eddie…daily driver…trying to make a showcar…not a good combo!ha

Building a show car and running as a daily is very very hard work…..my corrado was a nightmare to say the least.

I think weardale etc are good for summer but as the cold and wet weather arrives more central/easy to reach locations may be more suited

I know she'll never become a show car.  Gonna be a hell of a lot of work just to get her tidy, but she's a whole lotta fun so all good.  True about the weather, it has suddenly gone a bit treacherous.  Was around there yesterday in the heaviest rain I've been in the car in yet which was rather fun with the dodgy brakes.  

Is there a way of getting something up in the regions section (on the left panel, not in the forum) as I'm sure loads of people click on it and are also disappointed to see no meets
