Think of getting a vw camper van

I loved JC's camper!

I love the way he was at a festival. You could almost see people saying "thats the bloke from newsround"

Good luck with your search fella. I had a 68 bay that I regret selling a few years ago. Sold it on this site DUBSFORSALE

They don't hang around long though.

You have got to decide what you want model wise ?

If you want a 60s Van you will get loads to choose from if you want a small light early Van things get harder some what, If you want a 50s harder still and if you want super early pre 55 they get nearly impossible.

Im a member of the SSVC and there help has been great, i looked at many so called good van and travelled miles to see tarted up rubbish. I would take someone with you as there are loads of horror stories about people buying rubbish.

I went for a 55 with lots of OG paint on it as you can hide to much under nice shiny paint and i wanted to see what i was getting.

Good luck.

Good advice.  Think I've seen your van about my way before. Love it.

Although I like T2s, they make poor overnight campers. Slow, cold, small, poor electrics, very unsafe (you sit at the front with 1mm sheet steel in front), completely over priced…

If you actually want to sleep in it on a reasonable holiday at some distance get a T4/5.

Splits and bays are cool and classic. expensive yes but oh so cool. the only problems i see with t4/t5's is that they seem to be the choice of the camper thats got the chav about him. big nasty tasteless wheels and paintwork with lexus lights. but hey each to there own.

+ tow bar + caravan

SORTED

cheers marko

 I got a tow bar on the audi a few weeks ago, and the sensible option is a caravan, but the heart is telling me and the cool option is a T2! :P , plus I bought a decent tent for Uttoxeter that I could easily attach to a camper

The thing is if you buy sensibly it is as good as money in the bank if not better, you have to be very careful though as there is so much tarted up crap out there that is nearly worthless.

Its not like the MK1 market as that is very specialised look at Dubboy he has being trying to sell one of the only surviving examples of a 74 Swallowtail for seems like ages now if that was for instance a very early proper straight Barndoor it would have not even made it on the Forums and been sold straight away as like i say the market worldwide is huge.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I wanted a Split or a Bay but when you look in them the space is limited and i wanted a camper i could use that had the space, I looked at T4s but they look like just any newish camper and had no character about them so the obvious choice was a good t25 and this is what i got and we love it its cool good to drive not fast but im not bothered about that im on my jollies :D

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

I agree, if you like the shape of the Mk1 which you do obviously, then the T25 wedge of the same era is the one to go for….always been tempted myself to be honest.

T25's are the way to go. Top spec late Westfalia campers go for good money £10k+

Or…. I got my none running panel for £450, only needed an engine rebuild.

That green one's a VERY rare factory RHD Carat. Got rear ended earlier in the year and the guy's rebuilding it with original VW panels. Very nice.

Yradave says relax.
