Mk2 1.3 to ABF

Hello to all.
Recently joined the forum and purchased my first mk1 at the beginning of the week. (will get pics up as soon as it's in my possession)
This is what i'm currently building though:

Last year i was offered a mk2 for 300 squid with tax and test from a family friend. The plan was to just tidy it up and sell it on, but i forgot how addictive it was working on VWs.
So after convincing the misses set off to drop the current owner off at the airport and head on home in my new dub.
After A Clean

I kept it totally standard for the first couple of months and just before Stonor i was offered some coillies and RAs so on they went.

one taken at Bucks Dub Meet

That;s how she rolled for a few more months and then came some trimming

Unfortunately the old girl started developing engine problems and instead of breathing new life back into the tired 1.3, decided a new lump was needed.
So up went the garage

and the work began.

started with this

and ended with this

Picked up a freshly painted subframe/wishbones and GTI ARB which were polybushed and reassembled with the tidied steering rack

picked up some early doors to go with the smooth side theme i was after and trial fitted

tidied up the O2O gearbox

and went to collect this

On days that i couldn't work on the car itself, interior parts were being trimmed

decided to use rear rado seats

just a quick one of the rocker cover

16V hubs collected and one stripped and painted

Engine going back together

Starting to go back together

Managed to pick this up aswell. A KR for the the sum of …………. 0p
Be rude not to

Picked up some parts from VW and a slimline fan from eBay

which meant i could do this

Sitting the way it should and ready for the rest of the wiring/exhaust/gear linkage and plumbing
and the recent addition - A Frenched lid

Not to everyones taste but i like them
That's everything to how she currently sits, waiting to be finished. Work started January of this year and hoping to be on the road by september

Then onto the mk1 (which is what the KR will eventually find it's way into)

woo more parts arrived, however still in a bit of a dispute with the company that supplied the air filter.
The description (and image) stated all pipework would be included and they are saying that the kit i received is complete without the pipework.
hopefully get that sorted soon

pm me for more information, but i'm looking for £80
and it's located HP10 (just outside High Wycombe)

Seeing as though some of the touches have been broadcast through a blog on e38, i thought i'd post some more up to date pictures of what's been going on.

Obviously the start of the thread is my attempt in a canopy on the driveway (which didn't work out) and this is Studio In Cars attempt

As you can see the pink has now gone along with the blue and gunmetal block i
There is still more to come, so will update when it all happens.

All comments welcome

Right. I'm pretty stoked about seeing the latest update and had to put it up
so here it is:

The engine is now back in the bay.
As for the KR 4 branch. I'm waiting on news to say it's either been a success or plans need rethinking

Fingers crossed eh

You have no idea.
It's basically been in pieces on my driveway since last November and finally decided enough was enough and just get it done properly.

Thanks for the comments buddy
