jonny- when you said you had - 1.5 camber was that in total or per side.
mine is set to -0.5 eah side

that was on each side, 0.5 should be alright as well. tbh the tool i used was one of those cheap magnetic ones popped onto the hub in the middle of the wheel, set on my driveway. I'm not sure how accurate the gauge is but i was happy that both sides were the same at least, plus it drove fine with no tyre wear.

with standard gti springs and it not being as low you will get more negative camber as you corner because of the amount of travel in the struts. if i press on my arch i get about 2 inch of travel. (i only wiegh 10 stone!!)(its on coilovers))
do you think 1.5 might be to much or is it going to be finding a balance do ya think?

mine was on std GTI suspension :)
its down to personal preference really, nearly everyone you ask will have a different answer.  I chose -1.5 initially basically because thats what several people said they like to set their MK2 at, and a quick browse on here a couple of guys said they had the same on their MK1. It handled great so I left it at that :)
