racing these days from the lights round here is not the same anymore, a new breed of idoits with cars have emerged, instead of taking defeat gracefully with a flash of the lights they follow you for ages until you do something about it

i wave flash and thumbs up and smile...the lot, and other modded NAGS a subtle nod of the head works with fellow dubbers. but yeah, i go nuts, bit embarrassin when the look at me like ive just escaped.

Last person I "raced" in any sense of the word tried to follow my RX8 into a sharp left bend with a pre-braking speed in three figures; they didn't follow me, but I did see their E36 BMW disappearing in a cloud of tyresmoke and dust as they realised they weren't going to make the corner and instead drove up a farm track…

lol i've similar moments in the past on cornors, i had a ibiza gti 8v few years ago theres a cornor i go round at nearly 60 most very sharp left and down hill, most people with decent cars i found would take it max 40-45 but becuase of the nature of my job at the time pizza boy and it being 2nd to last cornor before the shop i used to go round it 10-15 times aday 5 days a week for nearly 7 years so i knew the bend very well and kept pushing and pushing the cars for years, and one day i had scooby right up my arse just before the cornor i took the aproach at nearly 90 before a quick touch of brake scooby boy still fancying  his chance kept up i came out of cornor sweet as line perfect the scooby driver had lost rear end and smashed his back wheel on the curb i carried on back to base thought nothing of it came out the back door of shop for next deliverly to find him on the other side of the road waiting for recovery when he relised he done more then smash an alloy,

was a nice bloke i spoke to him for a min b4 rushing off could not belive i fast i took the bend in such basic car, my reply was i could of done that in fiat panda and still off embarrest you

I mostly wave, thumbs up or flash. I never beep because if I did they wouldn't hear it!! Lol
Theres a black cab round where I live and it's a black guy who owns it and I took a detour to be behind him started beeping and I swear he thought I was a loony! Then I had to explain to my friend who had been waiting 20min that I was busy chasing a black man that didn't go down well lol

there is I feel a exclusive club for the aircooled dubs which annoys me because I really don't like "snobby" people,
I get waves and nods off people with 205's Renault 5's also fiesta mk1's and mk2's and when I do wave at people that don't wave I feel a right knob! Lol

with out being funny towards aircooled fans i do feel like the bloke above says there snobby towards us lot its like ours can't be a classic becuase theres is and it was made before ours etc and almost to the point wen you talk to most of them you not a vw fan at all, and its in there blood but when you think about its them who have the issue with us we only point out there rude ness towards

I think the thing with campers and beetles is people buy them because they are let's face it "iconic" cars a very distinctive shape and everyone knows what it is therefore you get people buying them without knowing too much about the VW community and clubs so when they see us in a iccle golf waving and flashing they haven't the faintist idea what's going on! Lol
I do love campers and beetles but I've been bought up to love VW's always been around them always will be! If I ever do get the chance to own a bay or if my luck ever happens a splitty it won't change me flashing at other v-dubbers :)

to add to my previous post. i do also sometimes wave at minis etc.
i had someone in a modded (low on new wheels lol) mk4 golf at the lights once, a car back on the next row. beeping, waving, almost climbing on his dash to see my golf haha. was pretty funny. i just kind of smiled and waved back

just quickly carrying on from above, it seems to be very well known in a few clubs around me that seem to be pretty into body kits and jap style lol. seems to be pretty well known that VW shows tend to be a great atmosphere and some of the best shows around.
win! haha

Well I've always flashed/waved the no worries sign at anything retro and VAG since i 1st got my bug. Since i got my caddy i've only had one embarrasing non-reply.

I find that driving past an aircooled van or bug on the motorway with the thumb and the little finger wailing around out the back of the sliding rear window usually gets some sort of response!

Ok since I've posted my thoughts on previous aircooled ignorance I've been proven wrong both bays that drove past waved but a mk1 gti didn't lol neither did the mk2 polo breadvan (but they never do anyway)
