Mortz Mk1 Cab Restoration

Well here we go…..

Bought for 400 notes…..Cannot be arsed to do another 2.5 year restoration….nearly got divorced the last time I did that….ummmm could be a good excuse though!

So whats the shopping list?

Full respray in Helios blue
Repair all body work
Clear lense indicators front only
source any bits that are missing…not much to get now
New mohair hood in navy blue
new headlining
Full grey nappa leather interior
Would like to have a set of 15" deep dish alloys…golf has already been lowered by 40 mil
Search for the brackets that hold the power hood rams
MOT and hopefully enjoy the summer….which year though?

She has been a widow on most cars i have tinkered with……nearly moved into the garage at one point  :dontknow:

Bought a cheap chrome filler cap to see how it would look t…..not too bad….will finish it with a proper Alloy filler cap…….so it don't look so shiny





With the metal work taking care of with a bit more fettling

Should have them back Monday…..hopefully will take some pix while they are being prep't n sprayed…

Making a start on car Hi-FI….got hold of a custom made sub enclosure which fits under the parcel shelf with mill to spare…depth is perfect too…so I still have space in the boot
Got hold of 2 subs to fit this enclosure from the same source which apparently are perfectly balanced……
How did I get hold of them?
A customer of mine supplies high end audio to factory built prestige cars and was happy to supply me with these items…..here is the bonus……..cost me nothing!!!!….must have stepped in doo doo that day !

The Subs work on RMS and are very low in frequency……apparantley as low as your gonna get…im no expert in car audio i will add

Front n rear bumpers…..side skirts…..and arches have been repaired and primed….a final flat before painting….should have them home wednesday / thursday evening  :mrgreen:

It's all in the prep……I know it's gonna cost me a small fortune…will be worth it though
The same chap painted a 1961 Mk1 Mini I restored a few years back…did ell of a job
AL mk1 will tell you it was the bollocks

Body kit finished……gotta say looks the dogs licky bits

Can't wait to get em started on the car  :mrgreen:

Think im gonna have to revise my total spend on the golf too….think I'll hit the 2.5k spend on the prep n paint alone  :cry:
