VW Golf 1 1.1L 1978. "The Gnoj"

First of all please be so kind and take a look of my introducing where I wrote that my english is not so good.
Take my apologize in advance  :redfaced:

Where to start…?

OK! Lets get back to 1978. My father bought on 1st of May 1978 VW Golf 1 1.1L, color asparagus 35 green in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The manufacturer was TAS (tvornica automobila Sarajevo) or in english manufacturer of cars Sarajevo.

Till 1995 my father passed the whole Europe with him and made over 300.000km ( approximate 186411 miles ). In 1995 Golf takes the whole restoration at one local dude and the result after only 3 years was horrible. Done job was disaster, we didnt get the paint wich we wanted, water was still coming in to the a car and so on.

In the meanwhile…
2001 I bought my first car Golf II and I gave him full attention. At the other side my mindes flight away from MKI
Some pictures of my ex MKII

The story goes on…

Its 2008 ( the horrible year in my life ) in just one month my father got ill and pass away…

After 1,5 months me, my brother & my mom asked our selves what shell we do with car???
Brother is a Mini Morris fan and he was no interested and mom is not a driver…
I told that Im gonna take a care about the Golf.
It was prohibited to resolve the car in any sense because the car is oldtimer and he is a part of family . So I decided to sell my MKII and make a renovation and return the Golf in life

On February 2009 started the story named "The Gnoj"
( GNOJ means in english pus, muck, manure…really dont know the right word in english but I hope that you will understand )
Must say that the location of car renovation is out of town.

The Gnoj didnt want to start the engine so help from traction car was necessary. For the start I took everything from car what I could and prepare him for the mission impossible!!!

 :tank:

Some pictures from parking.
PLeeeaseeee say hEEElOOO to my Golf 1 "The GnooOOOoj"!!!

Not so bed???  :hand:  :hand:

Actualy here you can see the water

The first sings of rust

Traction car in action…

And so we get to the new place…

OK! Lets get down to buisness
When we started with work everything looked quit satisfactorily…OH MY GOD, what that mistake will be… :banghead:

I forgot to write that my parents had an accident in 1996 My dad crashed into another MKI    and front part of car was whacked.
This is a reason why we decided to change the whole front of the car. I dont need to write that the whole front was one big rust

The old rusted front which was not in the center of the car. The iron plate around the muld was creased.
This is how it looks like.

Front is down.

Some hint

If it is metal - it can be fixed!

For most people this would be too much work, but this car is a member of your family.

For your help see that others are doing the same,

Good luck - keep working at it, Blair.

It's got a cop motor

I must confest that I have never seen this procjet!
This man is insane!!! :whiteflag:  :whiteflag:  :whiteflag:  :whiteflag:  :whiteflag:
This is the real rust
Can belive that someone is doing this!

Lets show some lighting… :scooter:

This is the way how I resolved lighting problem of "control table" -> I would appriciate if someone can tell me  exactly word for the whole table on belowed pictures! I doubt that "control table" is the exactly word. Thank you all in advance… :dontknow:

Pictures:
SMD LED warmwhite 3200k 60led/m 7,2W/m 12V

Here you can see the difference between warmwhite & cold LED
The LED which is in km/h ( dont know the word-> left color ) is 5600k and that is the cold one which I have putted for light.
The LED which is lighting the ventilation buttons ( right side ) is 3200k and I dont like it.

I really like this part of story  :redfaced:

See you later alligator   :cowboy:

After long searching for inner left & right sills I have found them at the local shop which is selling spare parts for all kind of viechle. The price was ridiculously. One sill costed with croatian tax 123,00kn / approximatley £15,00.
It is very hard, actually impossible to find a new sills here in Zagreb  :? .

I got an idea to put inox tube between inner & outer sills. Why? Simply because of firmer purpose.
How does it look like? Here are the pictures

…and of course here you will se the difference between rusted and new sills on a car

The rusted outer sill

And afterwards…

I dont need to write that we have spreaded over the sills & tubes with primer.  as you can see on pictures

Repair of outer left & right rear wheel arch…
Some rust  :banghead:

In a back of photo you can see my robusted dog

cuted…

And of course when we cuted the wheel arch we saw that the lower rear valence is also rusted  :banghead:
Another trouble to find that spare part  :banghead:

Rear left & right wheel archs and lower rear valence are changed   :cheer:

Hope that you will understand the following… Must to say that all welding were grinded and protected with primer & bitumen. Also the whole car was grinded so we could find each track of rust.

A few more photos

The man in charge Denis alias Ironic

Here you can see the original asparagus 35 color

Cheers my friends

Lets move on with bottom of car / floor ( however you say that stuff in english  :dontknow: )

Remember this from begining?

MAN I CAN GET IN TO MY CAR WITHOUT FLINSTONS STUFF!!!!!

The floor can take 5 persons!!!

I was lucky like Britney Spears in her song "Lucky"!
This is how it looked like

Everything has been grinded, painted with primer and next thing is to put the protection - bitumen

Take very best regards from very hot and sunny Zagreb with lot of beautiful womens!!! :cowboy:  :cheer:
